Prime Video Adds Three Films That Hit Different

Three must-watch – June 2026 brings three standout films to Prime Video: the coming-of-age story “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,” the romantic sports classic “Bull Durham,” and the haunting 1955 thriller “The Night of the Hunter.”
Prime Video’s June 2026 lineup doesn’t creep in quietly. It arrives like three very different moods in one sitting—each one built to stick with you after the credits roll.
First up is “Are You There God?. It’s Me. Margaret” (2023). starring Abby Ryder Fortson as Margaret. a curious pre-teen watching her body change and her world tilt in ways no one warns you about. The film follows her as she and her family move from New York City to New Jersey. where her questions only multiply: Why is her mother. Barbara (Rachel McAdams). estranged from her parents?. Why hasn’t Margaret gotten her period yet like her friends?. And even though she talks to Him all the time, does she actually believe in God?.
It’s a story about heavy topics that never feels weighted down. Directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, the film charts Margaret’s path toward young adulthood without turning into an after-school special. Kathy Bates appears as Margaret’s loud but loving grandma. rounding out a supporting cast that makes the messy. emotional in-between feel real—especially the part where kids keep asking for divine help even when adulthood is still knocking at the door.
Then Prime Video swings the tone hard in the other direction with “Bull Durham” (1988). Kevin Costner stars as “Crash” Davis. a minor league baseball player for the Durham Bulls who’s tasked with coaching a hotshot newbie. Ebby Calvin LaLoosh (Tim Robbins). But Crash’s new job comes with a curveball of its own: veteran baseball groupie Annie (Susan Sarandon) chooses Ebby as her latest “student” for the season.
The problem isn’t the plan—it’s that Crash has real feelings for Annie. and it seems Annie has feelings back. too. The love triangle plays out where it has no business being. especially as the Bulls climb in the minor league rankings thanks to Ebby’s plays—while Crash and Annie’s coaching adds pressure of a different kind.
“Bull Durham” is also the kind of sports movie that works like a rom-com. even when the baseball action is doing its job. The film’s focus lands on the comedic, delicate romantic tango between Crash, Annie, and Ebby. Costner is at his peak as Crash. bringing easy masculinity and rugged charm that Annie (and. in his way. Ebby) can’t resist. But it’s Sarandon’s Annie who practically drives the story. sexy and confident. so persuasive she’ll “convert you to her ‘Church of Baseball’” before you realize you’ve been won over.
For the third pick. Prime Video turns the lights down completely with “The Night of the Hunter” (1955). a chilling American Gothic thriller that remains unsettling long after its release. The director behind it was Charles Laughton. known when he was alive for stage and screen roles like his barrister in “Witness for the Prosecution” and his Oscar-winning performance as Henry VIII in “The Private Lives of Henry VIII.” After directing “The Night of the Hunter. ” Laughton never directed again. The film flopped when it came out in 1955. and Laughton died in 1963—but over time. the movie has gained a “sterling reputation” as a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
The story begins with career criminal Harry Powell (Robert Mitchum). who learns from his soon-to-be-executed cellmate. Ben Harper (Peter Graves). that there is cash stashed away back home. Harry waits patiently for his release so he can claim the loot. He poses as a preacher. woos Ben’s widow. Willa (Shelley Winters). and marries her—only to find she doesn’t know where the money is.
But the Harper children. John (Billy Chapin) and Pearl (Sally Jane Bruce). know exactly who Harry is. what he wants. and where Harry can find it. They just don’t tell him. Harry doesn’t mind the delay. One way or another. he’s going to get what he’s looking for—even if it means killing every Harper family member.
Three movies. Three lanes—faith and growing up, baseball and romance, and dread in American Gothic form. June on Prime Video offers a rare kind of variety: the kind that lets you pick a mood, press play, and get pulled into a world you won’t want to leave.
