Portugal and Croatia clash in Toronto on July 2

Portugal vs – Portugal, second in Group K, will face Croatia, runner-up in Group L, at Toronto Stadium on July 2 at 7 p.m. ET in a Round of 32 match that could shape the tournament’s final Toronto moment.
Toronto’s World Cup nights keep stacking up, and on July 2, one of the tournament’s most loaded Round of 32 matchups is set to land at BMO Field.
Portugal will meet Croatia at Toronto Stadium on July 2 at 7 p.m. ET, with both teams arriving after strong finishes in their groups. Portugal secured second place in Group K, while Croatia finished as the runner-up in Group L.
Portugal’s path to this matchup was built on mixed momentum. In its final group-stage game on Saturday, Portugal drew Colombia 0-0. That was their second draw of the group stage—after the scoreless result against Congo DR in their tournament opener. which came as a shock. Portugal did find its rhythm in its second match, beating Uzbekistan 5-0.
Croatia’s last day also came with pressure and payoff. Croatia defeated Ghana 2-1 on Saturday to finish above them for second in the group. The win was their second straight result after an opening loss to England.
The matchup carries extra weight because of who’s involved. For both sides, this could be the final World Cup game for Cristiano Ronaldo or Luka Modrić—two aging superstars still chasing the trophy that has eluded them for years.
The winner of Portugal vs Croatia will then play the winner of Spain and the second-place finisher of Group J, which will be either Austria or Algeria, in the Round of 16 on July 6.
For Toronto, the stakes run beyond the pitch as well. The Round of 32 game between Portugal and Croatia will be the final World Cup match played in Toronto.

7 p.m. ET right? I can’t believe it’s the last World Cup game in Toronto.
Portugal vs Croatia sounds like it could be insane, but why are they calling it “Portugal vs – Portugal” lol. Anyway I hope Ronaldo gets one more, like come on.
Wait so Modric and Ronaldo are both like definitely done after this? Not sure the article says that or I’m just seeing it everywhere. Also Toronto gets the “final” match there, so does that mean they’re never hosting again? People act like this is the last time ever.
Portugal drew Colombia 0-0 and Congo DR 0-0 but still got second?? That part confused me. Croatia beat Ghana 2-1 but they “finished above them for second” like… okay so who exactly got first? Also BMO Field better be ready because 7 p.m. in July sounds hot as hell.
