Police are investigating two separate reports of rape in Freeport and Arima on Sunday. In the first incident, officers of the Freeport Police District were told that a 33-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at her home around 11.30 p.m. on Sunday. Police said the woman reported that she had been asleep in her bedroom when she awoke and discovered a male relative on top of her. Investigators said the suspect allegedly restrained the woman, demanded sex and forcibly removed her clothing before sexually assaulting
her against her will. The suspect later left the house and the woman contacted police. She was subsequently taken for medical treatment. Police described the suspect as a 31-year-old man of East Indian descent, slim build and brown complexion. In a separate incident, officers were told that a woman was allegedly lured to the Mickey Trotman Savannah along Pinto Road, Arima, around 5 a.m. on May 24 by a man known to her. The victim reported that she was assaulted about the face and body
before being sexually assaulted and robbed of $60.
