Harbe Nagi, a 7-year-old boy who had gone missing Sunday after wandering off from a family graduation party in Menands, was found dead Tuesday morning, his uncle said. Police said the circumstances are still under investigation and shut Park Drive between Ward

MENANDS, N.Y. — The search that stretched through Menands neighborhoods and into wooded areas and nearby lakes ended Tuesday morning, after Harbe Nagi was found dead, his uncle said.

Harbe, 7, had wandered off from a family graduation party on Park Place in Menands around 4:20 p.m. Sunday. Volunteers and emergency personnel searched for him throughout the area, including wooded sections and nearby lakes.

In the days that followed, his family emphasized that Harbe was autistic and non verbal—details that made his disappearance especially frightening for everyone who knew him.

Police said the circumstances surrounding Harbe’s death remain under investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.

The Menands Police Department extended its condolences to Harbe’s family, friends, and those affected by the loss.

Adam Alharbi, Harbe’s uncle, posted on Facebook to share the outcome: “Update regarding Harbe: We are devastated to share that he has been found deceased. Thank you to everyone who helped in the search.”

During the investigation, Park Drive between Wards Lane and Mountain View was closed.

Just after 8 a.m. Tuesday, NewsChannel 13’s Benny Nezaj saw a woman running toward emergency personnel, visibly distraught.

The search is now over, but investigators continue working to determine what happened after Harbe left the party.

  1. My heart just dropped reading this. Autism or not, families shouldn’t have to worry about kids disappearing in their own neighborhood. Hopefully they figure out what happened, like asap.

  2. Wait so he was found near a lake but police still dont know anything? I feel like someone should’ve seen something if they were searching. Also closing Park Drive is kinda random like… did they close the wrong road?

  3. This is heartbreaking. Non-verbal autistic kid wandered off and it took like 2 days?? That’s terrifying. I don’t get why people don’t just lock everything up at parties, like even for older kids. Praying for the family but also I swear police always say “under investigation” forever.
