Pokémon Champions goes mobile with free Raichu boost

By the time you open your phone’s app store today, the fight is already waiting. Pokémon Champions has launched on Android and iOS, extending the multiplayer, turn-based strategy game that first debuted on the Nintendo Switch in April.

To mark the mobile rollout, Pokémon Company International (TPCI) is running a limited in-game campaign. All players will be able to get a free Raichu along with Raichunite X and Raichunite Y mega stones. Those stones are the items that let you mega-evolve Raichu into Mega Raichu X or Mega Raichu Y.

The offer is live starting today and runs until September 1, 2026, at 6:49 PM PDT. If you’re wondering where it shows up, TPCI says Raichu and the mega stones will be waiting in your in-game mailbox—and they’ll be available on both mobile and Switch.

There’s another detail that matters for anyone who’s cautious about promotions. TPCI has said you’ll be able to get Raichu through other means. In the same campaign frame, it also notes that Raichunite X and Raichunite Y mega stones could become available via the in-game shop at a later date.

For many players, the real shift isn’t just a new download button—it’s who you can battle next. Pokémon Champions supports cross-platform play between mobile devices, the Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. That means trainers can face each other regardless of which platform they’re using.

And if you’ve got the game on more than one device, the mobile launch brings a familiar convenience: if you sign into your Nintendo account, you can access your save data across the available platforms.

With Pokémon Champions now officially on Android and iOS, the campaign window is short enough to feel urgent—but broad enough to pull Switch players into the same fights. The battle has moved, and now the question is whether you’ll claim the Mega Stones before September 1, 2026.

  1. I don’t even get the difference between Raichunite X and Y, sounds like they’re just renaming the same thing and charging you later. Also why is this on mobile now like nobody asked?

  2. Wait, so you can play on Switch 2 too? I thought Switch 2 was the same as Switch but with better graphics. If you can transfer saves then cool, but the 6:49 PM PDT thing is random… definitely feels like they’ll change the terms.

  3. Mega Stones?? I swear I saw Mega Raichu in another game already like years ago. This is probably just them recycling assets and calling it a “mobile rollout.” I’ll claim it anyway though, Raichu is my fave, even if the mailbox reward disappears if you don’t open the app fast enough.
