Plex adds 15 free live TV channels for June
Plex adds – Plex, the free ad-supported streaming service that grew from a media server, is rolling out 15 new live TV channels for June—expanding its free lineup that already includes more than 600 FAST channels. The additions range from Murdoch Mysteries and The Great B
On a normal streaming day, it’s easy to forget how quickly “free” has become a real competitor to paid TV. But Plex is pushing that reality forward again.
To kick off June, Plex added 15 new live TV channels that you can stream entirely for free. The lineup includes shows and genres built for different moods—detective drama, baking competitions, true-life thrillers, and reality-style programming—yet all of it sits in the same free, ad-supported feed.
Plex is best known as an app that helps people host and organize their own media server. It started down that path in 2009, but it’s become much more than a personal storage tool. Since it began adding free content. Plex has built a large free streaming service: thousands of free movies and TV shows. plus more than 600 FAST (free ad-supported TV) channels.
Those 15 new channels add to that free lineup. Plex’s highlights include Murdoch Mysteries. the detective series set in Toronto during the late 1800s and early 1900s; The Great British Baking Channel. featuring talented bakers competing to create the best desserts; and Documentary Plus. offering documentaries that cover everything from history and science to nature.
Among the complete list of new channels are A&E Alaska Troopers. A&E Live PD Greatest Shifts. beIN Sports Extra. Cesar’s Pack Leader TV. Documentary Plus. Frightflix. Heartland. I Shouldn’t Be Alive. Lawless. Lifetime Movies Black Stories. Live PD. Monsters Are Real. Murdoch Mysteries. The Great British Baking Channel. and Z Nation.
This expansion matters because Plex isn’t alone in building free live TV into a habit. The Roku Channel is often compared in scale, and Plex’s free live offering now rivals it in size. Plex’s free library also comes in a format that’s familiar to viewers used to cable-style navigation: a traditional TV guide packed with free channels.
To find the new channels, Plex keeps it simple. If you don’t already have the Plex app. it’s free to download and available on major platforms and devices. including Roku. Google TV devices. Amazon Fire TV. Samsung TVs. LG TVs. Xbox. PlayStation. Android. and iOS. To access the free live TV channels. you go to the “Live TV” section by selecting “Live TV” from the top menu. which takes you to Plex’s live TV guide. From there, you can browse for the additions or use search to jump directly to a specific channel.
You don’t need a Plex account to watch any of its free content.
Plex’s free channel library is now large enough that many viewers won’t stop at the 15 additions. With more than 600 free live TV channels available, there’s room to explore beyond the new lineup. Among the personal favorites highlighted include BBC Top Gear, the MLB Channel, and Classic Cinema by WBTV.
For those who want to look outward, other major free options mentioned alongside Plex are The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, and Tubi. Those services sit in the same ad-supported universe—FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television)—where viewers trade subscription fees for commercials.
The FAST idea itself has been central to how this market is growing. and it’s helped shape major ownership stories elsewhere too. Pluto TV was acquired by Paramount Global in January 2019 for $340 million. and it has since grown into a free streaming service available in dozens of countries worldwide. Tubi was acquired by Fox Corporation in April 2020 for approximately $440 million. giving Fox a foothold in the ad-supported streaming space without launching a subscription service.
If you’re looking for something familiar across platforms, both Pluto TV and Tubi are also used for free movie watching. Examples highlighted include The Magnificent Seven (1960) on Tubi and the original Indiana Jones trilogy on Pluto TV.
Plex’s June additions won’t change the fact that the biggest shift in streaming has already happened: “free” no longer means limited. With 15 more live channels landing right away and a library that already spans more than 600 FAST channels. Plex is leaning further into being a place where people can actually spend their evenings.

Free live TV?? so they’re basically turning into cable now lol.
I saw Murdoch Mysteries and got excited, but it’s all ads right? Like it’s still free… until it’s not.
Is this the same Plex that you use to watch your own stuff from a server? Cuz I thought it was just personal movies, not “live” stuff every day. Also June already started so where were these channels like yesterday?
Lawless and Z Nation on free live channels sounds sketchy somehow. Isn’t Live PD still a whole thing with licensing changes? Not sure how they get all these A&E type channels for free, feels too good to be true.
