Plathville’s Lydia Details Sex Timing After Wedding

In a May 19 TLC episode, Lydia Plath and husband Zac Wyse look back on their first night after tying the knot in February 2025—revealing that they didn’t wait a full week after their altar kiss, and describing how Zac made her feel safe in the bedroom.

On the Tuesday, May 19 episode of TLC’s Welcome to Plathville, Lydia Plath finally pulled back the curtain on the one part of newlywed life she and Zac Wyse spent months building up: sex.

The 22-year-old met with her friend and bridesmaid Mariah to talk about how married life with Zac, 24, has been since they tied the knot in February 2025. Lydia kept it upbeat at first. “It’s been really great. Enjoying marriage, discovering marriage,” she said.

Then the conversation shifted to their wedding-day promise—saving their first kiss for the altar—and the timing that followed. Lydia explained that Zac had set the expectation during the run-up to the wedding.

“He told me leading up to the wedding, he was like, ‘You know, when it comes to sex, when it comes to intimacy, like, I want you to let me know when you’re ready,’” Lydia recalled.

Lydia continued that Zac offered a plan designed to remove pressure. “If you want to wait a week, you know, [and] enjoy a week of kissing and making out and warming up to each other before we do anything else [we can].’ He’s like, ‘I’m here to serve you.’”

But as the newlyweds talked through it, Lydia made it clear the waiting didn’t stretch as long as their earlier talk suggested. “No, we didn’t wait a week so much,” she told Mariah, adding a cheeky face and laughter.

When Mariah pressed further, Lydia declined to describe the wedding night in detail. “I don’t want to disclose what our wedding night looked like,” she said, before calling it “so beautiful.” She added that it felt “so perfect and so God-centered and so just honoring.”

That choice wasn’t just about keeping things private. Lydia also spoke about what it meant for her to be physically vulnerable with someone after growing up in a conservative household. She admitted she hadn’t even been comfortable before. “I wouldn’t even change it in front of my sister’s till I was like 17,” Lydia confessed.

What surprised her, she said, was how quickly that awkwardness disappeared. “That was honestly something that surprised both of us, just how comfortable we were with each other from day one.”

The episode also revisited the wider backlash Lydia faced from her family for marrying Zac quickly. Her eldest brother Ethan Plath, 28, questioned Zac’s sexuality after learning they hadn’t kissed, and Lydia told the cameras that the family later apologized for being so critical.

Now. despite the scrutiny that came before the wedding. Lydia said she’s happy with how things have gone in the bedroom. “There’s definitely a side of me that no one has ever seen or I never imagined was there. But. it’s for Zac only and it’s awesome. ” she teased on camera. then bit a banana in a moment that appeared somewhat sexual. The crew laughed, and Lydia insisted it wasn’t “on purpose.”.

In the same stretch of newlywed openness. Lydia also offered a more emotional glimpse of what intimacy has meant for her as a couple. She described sex and closeness with her spouse as something that deepens daily life together. “There’s just such a beauty in sex and intimacy with your spouse,” Lydia said. “That’s like it just breeds so much deeper connection [of] joy, love.”.

She continued, “It’s literally life giving, like, literally, but it also is life giving as a couple. Like it, it does bring life into the world, but it also brings life into your marriage.”
