Pixar denies Swift ending song as “Toy Story 5” buzz swells

Pixar denies – Pixar moved to cool fan speculation about Taylor Swift’s link to “Toy Story 5,” with director Andrew Stanton and others directly addressing one major rumor: Swift is not performing the film’s ending song. Two days later, Pixar posted an Instagram reel tying Sw
Just days after Pixar attempted to calm chatter about a possible Taylor Swift connection to “Toy Story 5,” the movie company posted something that only seemed to add fuel.
On its Instagram, Pixar released an Instagram reel directly tying Swift to the franchise’s fifth installment. The post shows fan-favorite cowgirl Jessie dancing to Swift’s “Shake It Off,” and the caption reads: “She’s making those moves up as she goes!”
The timing landed close to a separate moment at Pixar headquarters, where “Toy Story 5” director Andrew Stanton, along with co-director McKenna Harris and producer Lindsey Collins, was asked about the same swarm of online speculation linking the singer to the film.
“It surprised us. What a freakin’ honor,” Stanton said of the rumor wave stirred by Swift’s online countdown and “Toy Story”-style imagery. Collins followed with, “It would be pretty amazing.”
But Stanton then moved to quash what fans appeared to be treating as a centerpiece theory: Swift performing the movie’s ending song.
“The sad truth is we watched the movie being mixed last week and the song on the end was not Taylor Swift,” he said.
While Stanton addressed that specific claim head-on, he did not comment on broader speculation about whether Swift could be involved in any other way.
In the background of all the back-and-forth, the fan theory engine hasn’t slowed down.
Exactly one month before the billboard sightings. on April 30. Swift’s website briefly displayed a countdown featuring “Toy Story”-style clouds and a yellow countdown clock. The countdown remained live for roughly 10 minutes before disappearing. The imagery included the same “Toy Story”-style blue skies and white clouds. with a yellow clock pointing to May 2—an early spark that some kind of announcement was coming.
No announcement ever appeared, and Swift’s team did not respond to emails requesting comment.
Then came what fans interpreted as a second act.
On May 29, Swifties spotted billboards in Chicago, London, and Dallas featuring the franchise’s signature blue-sky backdrop paired with the letters “TS”—initials shared by both Taylor Swift and “Toy Story.” The billboards also included 13 white clouds, a number fans have long associated with Swift.
Whether the billboards point to a real collaboration remains unconfirmed. But the sightings have placed pressure on official communications—especially after Stanton’s denial about one particular piece of the music puzzle.
That denial sits alongside Swift’s existing track record with Disney-owned projects and platforms. Disney+ has served as the streaming home for “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version). ” “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour | The Final Show. ” and “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.” She also partnered with the platform on a six-part Eras Tour docuseries that includes behind-the-scenes footage. rehearsals and interviews with Swift. her mother Andrea Swift. and her fiancé Travis Kelce.
A movie tie-in would also fit a career-long pattern of Swift contributing songs to Hollywood projects. She recorded “Crazier” for “Hannah Montana: The Movie. ” “Today Was a Fairytale” for “Valentine’s Day. ” “Safe & Sound” and “Eyes Open” for “The Hunger Games. ” “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” for “Fifty Shades Darker. ” “Beautiful Ghosts” for Cats. and “Carolina” for Where the Crawdads Sing.
The latest chapter is still unfolding: involvement of Swift and “Toy Story 5” has not been officially announced. But after a mix of countdown glitches. international billboards. and Pixar social posts that appear to link Swift directly to Jessie’s world. fans are left with a sharper question than ever—what. if anything. is truly tied to “Toy Story 5. ” and what was only ever meant to look that way.
Taylor Swift Toy Story 5 Pixar Andrew Stanton McKenna Harris Lindsey Collins Shake It Off Jessie billboards Chicago London Dallas Disney countdown
So she’s not doing the ending song but they still keep poking her?? lol
I don’t buy it. Pixar says “not Taylor” but then posts Jessie dancing to Shake It Off?? That’s basically the ending song in meme form. Also Andrew Stanton talking like that sounds like PR.
Wait didn’t the countdown happen like a month ago? That yellow clock thing makes it seem real like she’s in it somehow. If it was fake they would’ve shut it down immediately, right?
Pixar “denies” and then Instagram baited everyone with Jessie and Swift like… okay sure. Mixed last week?? So the song isn’t her but maybe it’s just a different Swift song? Or they’re doing the “ending song” but not the last song, like the second to last? Honestly these people just say stuff and let the internet fill in the rest.
