Trump secretly switched to military jet in Turkey amid Iranian threat
President Trump was moved off Air Force One using a catering truck in Turkey due to an Iranian threat back in July, the Washington Post reported.
Newly-released photos show the scene on an airport tarmac in Turkey last month during what news reports describe as a clandestine mission to safeguard President Donald Trump from an Iranian threat by secretly moving him from Air Force One to a different plane.
Trump was transferred from Air Force One to a military jet using a catering truck, covertly flying from the NATO summit in Turkey to the United Kingdom on the other plane while journalists and administration officials remained on Air Force One, according to the Washington Post and New York Times.
The new photos show the catering truck, which is used to load food and supplies into the plane, that was reported to have hidden the president. It is parked at the front of Air Force One. The Air Force C-32A jet reported to have secretly transported the president also is shown, parked nearby as journalists board Air Force One.
Trump had flown to the summit in Ankara on a new Qatari-gifted Air Force One, but announced he would be flying the first leg back to the U.S. on an older Air Force One. Instead, he covertly took the C-32A to Suffolk, England, according to the news reports. The ruse came as tensions with Iran were flaring up, with the U.S. resuming bombing in a war that began Feb. 28.
