Perfect Match Star Marissa George Marries Former D.

Marissa George, who appeared on Perfect Match season four, married former partner D. Johnson in March after getting engaged in February—sharing details of the elopement in Savannah, her feelings about finally choosing each other, and what’s next.
Marissa George knew the timing had to change—because for the better part of 13 years, her love story with D. Johnson kept finding its way back to the same place. Months after filming wrapped on Netflix’s Perfect Match season four. the reality star revealed she married the former partner earlier this year.
George told People that she and D. reconnected in November 2025, after filming on the dating series wrapped that month. They’d first met and dated back in 2013. While they “fell in love fast” then. she explained that “We were young and lived states away from each other. so the distance just didn’t work at the time.”.
Over the years, the distance didn’t erase the connection. “Over the last 13 years, we somehow always found our way back to each other,” George said. “Anytime we were both single, we’d reconnect and it was always clear the feelings never really left. Even our mutual friends would always say. ‘If the timing ever works out. they’re going to end up together.’”.
Eventually, she and D. reached the decision they’d been circling for years. “Eventually, after years spent being each other’s ‘what if,’ we got to a point where we were like, ‘Screw the distance, this is worth it,’” George added.
The engagement came quickly after that rekindling: she said they got engaged on February 21st. Exactly one month later, on March 21st, the two married during a small elopement ceremony in Savannah, Ga., with their parents, siblings, and close friends in attendance.
George described what it felt like to say “I do.” “The day I said ‘I do. ’ I felt this immense responsibility in the most beautiful way. Not pressure, but clarity. Like, this is serious. This is real partnership. I can’t play games and I don’t want to,” she said. “It’s not that I didn’t take past relationships seriously. but I honestly don’t think I fully understood what a healthy love was supposed to feel like until now. And once you experience a love that feels peaceful, grounding, safe, and freeing all at once, it completely changes you.”.
After the wedding, the couple’s plans are still moving. George shared that they plan to move to Japan soon, and that they’re planning a big wedding next year.
She also sounded visibly relieved that the relationship finally gets to live in public as well as private. “I’m honestly just really excited that after all these years we finally get to choose each other fully and publicly. ” she said. “What’s so special about our relationship is how safe it feels. I’ve never had someone love me in a way that also made me feel so free to fully be myself. ” George added. “He has loved me through so many versions of myself and has created space for me to continue growing. learning. changing. and evolving without shame or judgment. In so many ways. he’s helped heal parts of me that I didn’t even fully realize still needed healing.”.
On Perfect Match, George was coupled up with DeMari Davis, from Too Hot to Handle, throughout the experience. Before that. she was engaged to Ramses Prashad on Love Is Blind season seven. before being blindsided days before their wedding. Even with all that public dating history behind her. she said she still cherishes the lessons from the Netflix shows—especially because this time. the relationship she’s building feels real and private at its core.
“I cherish what [my husband and I] have so deeply. Which is honestly why I can now watch myself on Netflix. see all the growth and mistakes and lessons. and still feel proud of the woman I’ve become. ” George told People. “Because this relationship didn’t just give me love, it helped me understand myself more too.”.
“And after such a public experience with dating and relationships, it’s been really beautiful having something that feels so real and private at its core,” she went on. “He’s truly my best friend and I genuinely feel so lucky that after all this time, timing finally chose us too.”
