Paul Pelosi is facing a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge after an alleged crash in Yountville, California, where a witness reported significant damage to a parked car and California Highway Patrol later found his vehicle with matching damage.
Around 2:30 p.m. Friday, in the town of Yountville, an 86-year-old Paul Pelosi allegedly slammed a brown Maserati convertible into a legally parked, unoccupied car, then drove away.
The witness who saw the crash reported that the impact caused “significant damage to its rear.” Pelosi reportedly stopped his car for a moment before leaving the scene. That witness then notified police.
California Highway Patrol later found Pelosi’s vehicle along the side of the road with “significant damage” to the right front end, a condition described as consistent with the crash that was reported. Officers administered a preliminary alcohol screening, which showed a 0.00 blood alcohol level.
Pelosi is now facing a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office could not be reached for comment.
NBC Bay Area reported that Pelosi admitted to hitting something. In the account, he said he “did not know what he had struck and continued driving until his vehicle became disabled and could no longer be driven.”
