Parsons’ meniscus procedure could sideline him four games

Micah Parsons didn’t just repeat what many were already expecting—he filled in the missing piece. The Packers star linebacker told reporters that he also had a meniscus procedure, and that his recovery is now firmly on a timeline that would keep him away at the beginning of the season.

Parsons’ timeline has been moving for months. He said he “just passed my fifth month on May 29. ” describing himself as “extremely happy where we’re at and the direction I’m going.” He also pointed to the next stage of his rehab. saying he has “just started running on an AlterG [treadmill] the past two weeks. ” with that progress tied to the direction of his return.

He has previously indicated he expected to miss the start. and Wednesday’s comments made it sound less like a guess and more like a plan. With recovery still in progress. he appears likely to start the season on the physically unable to perform list. which would keep him out for the first four games of the regular season.

Parsons, 27, said he is approaching the injury like a long-career project rather than a short sprint. While other players may try to push back early. he framed his priorities around avoiding anything that could cause the injury to linger into later weeks. The objective, he said, is “to complete the season — not no relapse — and playoffs and pushing towards a championship.”.

He was direct about what he is not willing to do. “The goal isn’t for me to go out there and re-hurt myself trying to force myself to be back in the first few games,” Parsons said. “The goal has always been playoffs, and I think we’re all on the same page.”

As the Packers line up their opening stretch, the schedule offers a clear picture of what those early games could cost. Green Bay’s regular season begins against the Minnesota Vikings, followed by the New York Jets, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

For Parsons, the message is consistent: the timing matters, but not as much as the risk. He is working toward a full-season run rather than a hurried return that could derail the very postseason goals he says he’s focused on.

  1. So he’s gonna miss the first four like it’s no big deal lol. Should’ve healed faster.

  2. I saw “meniscus” and instantly thought knee, but like… isn’t that the thing that gets messed up from running and stuff? Four games sounds kinda brutal for Week 1 anyway. AlterG treadmill?? never heard of it.

  3. Wait so he’s on the physically unable to perform list for FOUR GAMES… but he’s already running? That doesn’t make sense. Like if he’s doing all this rehab then why can’t he just play against the Vikings? Seems like PR timeline not injury.

  4. Green Bay vs Vikings week 1 and he’s out… of course. They always talk about “not forcing it” but then everyone panics when the defense looks different. Also AlterG treadmill sounds like some sci-fi rehab thing, so I’m just confused how it still takes months. Hopefully he doesn’t drag it into playoffs cause that would be so Packers-ish.
