Mijas water park opens earlier, cooling families sooner

Families across Mijas will be welcoming the return of a favourite summer spot as the council brings forward the start of the season at Parque del Agua de Las Cañadas, just behind El Corte Inglés. Early reopening meets resident requests Council staff in charge of parks and gardens have confirmed the popular site is to become available from June 8 this year. Loads of requests from local families drove the decision to open sooner than in previous years. Residents expressed strong interest in having access
to this refreshing outdoor park right at the beginning of warmer weather. Officials have listened closely and adjusted plans accordingly to support community needs during the most sweltering months. Key features of the park This recreational area covers 1,500 square metres of enclosed ground and operates with a closed-loop system that recycles treated water. Multiple fountains and water jets create opportunities for kids to play safely in the cooling sprays. Those who pay a visit will also find landscaped garden sections, shaded pergolas, dedicated play
equipment for younger ages, and specialised non-slip surfacing suitable for wet environments. Every measure ensures the water stays clean through repeated testing, including checks designed to make sure the water stays clean and guards against any bacterial issues such as legionella. Current and future opening times Until June 23, the facility opens from 3pm to 8pm on weekdays. Weekend access runs from 10am to 8pm. Once school holidays begin, daily hours extend to 10am until 8pm every day of the week. Local families can now
plan regular visits throughout the peak summer period. Council representatives encourage everyone to make the most of these convenient timings while the weather stays hot. Important visitor guidelines Toddlers under 3 must be supervised at all times. Games and equipment are available only for those up to 14 years of age. Bicycles, scooters and similar transport, along with balloons or balls, have to stay outside the fenced zone. Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the area. Animals cannot enter, and everyone needs appropriate footwear for
safety on the wet surfaces. With these arrangements now in place, Parque del Agua de Las Cañadas stands ready to provide hours of fun and some cooling relief from the heat for many young visitors and their guardians in the weeks ahead.
