Paris Jackson Draws Firm Line on Michael Bond

Paris Jackson says peace came from keeping her bond with late father Michael Jackson private, telling Jack Osbourne it’s “no one’s business” and that she doesn’t want her love expressed in a fan-style, performative way.

Paris Jackson doesn’t want to perform her grief for anyone.

Years after Michael Jackson’s death. the singer and actress told Jack Osbourne on the “Trying Not to Die” podcast that her relationship with her late father is something she keeps to herself because “it’s no one’s business.” She described how. in the spotlight. she once felt she “had to share everything. ” because she believed she “owed it to people.”.

But that pressure has shifted. “I felt I had to share everything, and that has drastically changed in the last few years, because I don’t really feel like any of us owe anyone anything,” Paris said.

Now. she draws a clear line between what she chooses to post online to honor her father and what she refuses to turn into a public script. Paris said she makes sure what she shares doesn’t “feel performative. ” and she doesn’t cater to the idea that she should express her love for Michael in the same way a fan would on his birthday or death anniversary.

“For me, I had a personal relationship, not a parasocial relationship… I’m not going to express my love in a copycat way, copying someone who didn’t know him. Because I did. That was my best friend,” she said.

Paris didn’t support the 2026 Michael Jackson biopic. “Michael.” She has criticized the project for what she called “inaccuracies” and “dishonesty. ” and in September 2025 she shared videos on Instagram Stories calling out the biopic while clarifying that she had nothing to do with it.

In those posts, Paris wrote that she “read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest/didn’t sit right with me, and when they didn’t address it, I moved on with my life.”

She also pushed back on rumors she says circulate about her feelings toward her father. “Something quite a lot of people are saying is, ‘She hates her dad. She resents him. She wants nothing to do with him. ” Paris noted in one of her Instagram Stories. adding. “That’s not my truth… I just prefer honesty over sales and monetary gain.”.
