Packers RB Josh Jacobs arrested; attorneys deny charges

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on May 26 after a domestic disturbance reported on May 23. He faces five domestic-abuse-related charges, while his attorneys say he “vehemently denies” the allegations.

For a starting running back, May should be about workouts and rhythm. Instead, Josh Jacobs’ name is back on the kind of police blotter no player expects to see.

The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department announced on May 26 that the Green Bay Packers running back was arrested in connection with a domestic disturbance complaint involving him. The incident at the center of the case was reported on May 23. and police said they responded to a disturbance call at approximately 8:37 a.m.

Chief Michael Renkas said the investigation led to Jacobs’ arrest on May 26. He was booked into Brown County Jail on five charges tied to the incident: Battery – Domestic Abuse; Criminal Damage to Property – Domestic Abuse; Disorderly Conduct – Domestic Abuse; Strangulation and Suffocation; and Intimidation of a Victim.

Renkas emphasized that the case is ongoing. “This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” his statement said, adding that no further information would be released at that time.

Jacobs’ attorneys—David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Clarence Duchac—moved quickly to deny the allegations. In a statement carried through NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. they said Josh Jacobs “vehemently denies the allegations” and that the matter is still in the early stages. with “important evidence that has not yet been made public.” They also asked for “fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course.”.

The Packers confirmed they are aware of the arrest but said they would not add details while the legal process is underway. A Packers spokesperson said: “We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs.” The statement continued: “As it is an ongoing legal situation. we will withhold further comment.”.

The timing lands on a player who has been central to Green Bay’s recent offense. The 28-year-old has played the last two seasons with the Packers on a four-year. $48 million deal signed in free agency in 2024. In that span, Jacobs has totaled 30 touchdowns with the team and rushed for 2,258 yards across 32 regular-season games.

The picture right now is shaped by two opposing claims: police say their investigation produced five domestic-related charges and an arrest. while Jacobs’ legal team says the allegations are false and that evidence has not been released. With Renkas saying the investigation is active and the team holding its comment. the next developments may determine how quickly this moves from arrest details to courtroom scrutiny—or to a different outcome.

This story will be updated when new information becomes available.
