What’s happening around town • Co-Conspirators Brewpub in Brunswick will host its annual winter beer festival Famiglia Affairs this Saturday June 13, from midday to 5pm. The event is $55 per person and highlights drinks from independent Victorian breweries including La Sirene, Boatrocker and Bridge Road Brewers. Tickets include two samples from each brewery and a glass of Co-Conspirators’ barrel-aged imperial stout. • Saadi is transforming into an Indian chook shop for one night only on Saturday June 20 from 4pm. Get spit-roasted chicken with
black peppercorn and coriander sauce, crispy chilli salt potatoes and salad, plus starters for $65 per person. Matched wines from Avani are available for an additional $45. • Gimlet’s latest theatrical tableside dessert is pears foster. The seasonal dish, available from 9pm Sunday to Thursday and from 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, sees pears with brown sugar caramel, cinnamon, and a barley and oat crumb flambéed at your table then topped with brown butter ice-cream and crème anglaise. • Hot Listed Boire is hosting a
Southern Indian pop-up from Anthony Philip and his mum Nimmy (Meena) Philip. The duo will cook family recipes, and serve wines curated by Anthony, who co-directs the wine list at Sydney’s 10 William St. The walk-in only event takes place Saturday May 30 from 5pm to late. • Byron Bay chocolate company Loco Love is popping up in Collingwood on Saturday May 30 from 9am to 6pm. Wait this is in Brunswick but it says June 13 Saturday like… is that even this year? Also $55 for samples is wild, you’re basically paying for a cup and a glass.
Famiglia Affairs sounds like Italian church fundraiser vibes not beer. And Saadi becoming an Indian chook shop for one night?? I swear last time Saadi was like kebabs or something, now it’s roast chicken with chili salt potatoes??
The pears foster dessert table-flambéed at 9pm?? That sounds dangerous like they’re doing fire right next to diners. Also why is it “from 9pm Sunday to Thursday and 10pm Friday and Saturday” like it’s a schedule for a TV show or something.
