Off Campus Becomes Prime Video’s No. 3 Debut

Prime Video’s freshman YA romance Off Campus surged to 36 million worldwide viewers in its first 12 days, landing as the streamer’s No. 3 most-viewed debut season—while also topping series premieres among women ages 18–34.

It didn’t take long for Prime Video’s newest YA romance, Off Campus, to make itself impossible to ignore. In just its first 12 days, the freshman season pulled in 36 million viewers worldwide—powered by two full weekends on the platform, using internal Prime Video data.

Those numbers put Off Campus ahead of The Summer I Turned Pretty for debut-season viewing. But the romance still sits behind the freshman seasons of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout.

Prime Video is aiming hard at a specific audience, and the show’s early performance landed right on that target. In those same 12 days. Off Campus ranked as Prime Video’s most-viewed series debut season of all time among women ages 18–34—an age group the streamer has been targeting through its YA and BookTok push.

“Obsession is officially in session at Prime Video. thanks to the fans who have embraced ‘Off Campus. ’” Amazon MGM Studios global TV head Peter Friedlander said in a statement. “We couldn’t be happier to see such a passionate community come together around Season 1 of creator Louisa Levy and co-showrunner Gina Fattore’s interpretation of Elle Kennedy’s beloved story. When you earn trust and deliver for an audience. they show up — and they’ve certainly done so for ‘Off Campus.’”.

The momentum is arriving as the series shifts into its next chapter. Off Campus is set to enter production on its second season, which Prime Video greenlit before the series debuted in mid-May.

Prime Video’s success story is also part of a broader summer push. Off Campus is the first of a dozen titles Prime Video plans to roll out this summer as part of its new YA push. That slate includes BookTok sensations Every Year After and The Love Hypothesis; Elle. a prequel spinoff of Legally Blonde; and other YA series such as Sterling Point. Prime Video is also in the middle of adapting buzzier books including Fourth Wing, Rose Hill, and Boys of Tommen.

Created by Louisa Levy and based on Kennedy’s books, Off Campus stars Ella Bright, Belmont Cameli, Mika Abdalla, Antonio Cipriano, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Josh Heuston, and Stephen Kalyn.

For a show that only just reached the start line, Off Campus has already become the kind of debut Prime Video can build around—at least for the demographic it’s been chasing, and fast enough that the second season is already on the move.

  1. No. 3 debut?? I feel like The Summer I Turned Pretty was everywhere already, so this seems kinda off. Prime got lucky with BookTok hype or whatever.

  2. Women 18–34 thing makes sense because that’s literally who I see talking about it nonstop. But also like why does Prime always push YA romance so hard, it feels like a trap 😅

  3. So they’re saying it’s behind Fallout and Rings of Power… but it’s also top among women 18–34 and has ‘two full weekends’ on Prime. I don’t even know what a weekend view counts as, like did people watch all weekend or just open it once? Also season 2 already?? Amazon moves fast when the algorithm says yes.
