NREA, DHSUD launch forum to tackle housing industry woes
NREA and DHSUD announced a National Housing Convention focusing on good governance, innovation, and sustainability, with key speakers and CPD credits.
Housing in the Philippines faces a bruising mix of policy pressure and market strain, and the National Real Estate Association (NREA) and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) are aiming to address it head-on.
Misryoum reports that the two groups will kick off the National Housing Convention this month, centering discussions on good governance, innovation, and sustainability.. NREA said the agenda is timely amid concerns raised over flood control controversies and broader economic headwinds tied to developments in the Middle East.
This National Housing Convention from NREA and DHSUD is set for 13 to 14 May at Bayview Park Hotel on Roxas Boulevard in Ermita, Manila.
On Day 1, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling is expected to deliver a keynote, while Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito will be the keynote speaker for Day 2, Misryoum said. NREA Executive Vice President Jovi Francis Tupaz serves as overall convention chairman.
Insight: By focusing on governance alongside innovation and sustainability, Misryoum notes the event is positioned less as a one-off industry showcase and more as a forum for translating policy priorities into housing outcomes.
NREA also expects strong participation from across the country, with its leadership saying the convention aims to draw as many as 400 delegates.. The gathering is meant to bring together housing-related stakeholders, including local government representatives, real estate professionals, developers, and practitioners.
Misryoum adds that NREA specifically urged local government units to join, citing their role as proponents and co-implementors of housing projects.. The association also asked the Department of the Interior and Local Government to allow LGU officials and staff to attend on official time, with expenses covered.
The organizers said they are also seeking continuing professional development recognition for registered real estate practitioners (15 CPD Credits), architects (8 CPD Credits), and environmental planners (12 CPD Credits), according to Misryoum.
Insight: CPD recognition can turn industry conversations into actionable learning, which is why Misryoum says this part of the program may matter as much as the speakers themselves.
The convention has collaboration support from Pag-IBIG Fund and several private partners, including PHirst Park Homes Inc., Davies Paint Philippines, National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation, and SM Development Corporation, among others.. Participants are being urged to register via the link shared by Misryoum or through NREA’s Facebook page, and to use the provided QR code.
Misryoum notes that beyond the agenda, the timing suggests organizers want stakeholders aligned before the year’s housing issues deepen, with the forum serving as a venue for coordination and next steps.
