Nolan Smith Jr.’s night in Georgia ended with an arrest record that quickly escaped the usual channels and landed on social media.
The Eagles linebacker was arrested in Georgia for reckless driving and speeding. With unconfirmed online accounts circulating, E.J. Smith of PHLY Sports confirmed that Smith’s mugshot is real. CBS affiliate WMAZ-TV also confirmed the arrest.
The first account of the incident appears to have come from The Georgia Gazette. a site that does not appear to be an actual publication but rather a repository of arrest records and mugshots. That entry includes Smith’s mugshot and his full name, Nolan Sental Smith. It lists the date of the arrest as May 15. 2026. and the charges as “speeding in excess of maximum limits” and reckless driving.
As the claims spread, some social-media accounts alleged Smith was driving 137 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone. That specific allegation has not been backed by clear, reliable evidence that can be verified.
Smith, a first-round pick in the 2023 draft, played college football at Georgia. The timing of the news has drawn additional attention because the Bulldogs program has had multiple incidents involving players cited for driving at excessive speed.
One recent case sits close to the current headlines: Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter. also a first-round pick in the 2023 draft. pleaded no contest in April 2023 to misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and racing. The plea came in connection with a January 2023 crash that resulted in the deaths of two people.
In Smith’s case. the confirmed facts are specific—mugshot authenticity. the May 15. 2026 arrest date. and the charges listed as “speeding in excess of maximum limits” and reckless driving—while at least one of the most widely repeated details online. the alleged 137 mph figure. still lacks solid verification.

137 mph sounds like he was basically trying to kill somebody tbh.
Wait so it was Georgia but he’s an Eagles player? Wild how it’s already on social media. If the mugshot is real then the rest probably is too right?
Not sure why everyone is saying 137. Like unless they found a dash cam or something that number is just gonna float forever. Also Georgia has plenty of dumb driving stuff, doesn’t mean it’s always the same situation.
This is why I don’t trust these athletes, they always think rules don’t apply. They keep bringing up that other player (Carter) and now it’s “speeding in excess of maximum limits” which is basically the same thing. He should’ve gotten way more than “reckless driving” and whatever, and why is the name Nolan Sental Smith? That sounds made up.
