Nithya Raman edges Spencer Pratt ahead of LA runoff

With mail-in ballots still being counted, Nithya Raman has taken a narrow lead over Spencer Pratt in the race for Los Angeles Mayor. The top two will face incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in a November runoff, with final results set to be sealed July 6.

By midday on Sunday, June 7, Spencer Pratt was watching the numbers move again—only this time, not in his favor.

Nithya Raman has overtaken Pratt in the Los Angeles mayoral race and is now ahead as more votes are counted. The contest is tight in the race to go head-to-head with incumbent mayor Karen Bass.

In the latest update shared as the vote count continued, Raman climbed to 27.1% of the votes, while Pratt moved to 26.7%. Before that shift, Pratt had been holding the lead, but Raman’s gains narrowed the gap and pushed her ahead.

Whoever finishes on top will face Karen Bass in the November runoff election to determine the next mayor of Los Angeles.

The timeline for the final outcome still stretches far beyond Sunday. Mail-in ballots postmarked June 2nd will continue to be accepted through Tuesday (June 9), and final election results will be sealed July 6th.

Pratt, meanwhile, did not sound ready to concede. On Sunday, June 7, he took to Twitter/X to react to the continued count, writing: “Remember everyone…we are still in the lead, and we’ve got allllllll the way til July 6th to keep counting. They’re not the only ones who know where to find votes.”

Later in the day. he reposted a Fox reporter noting that Pratt led Raman by about 40. 000 votes on election night. but that she now has a swing of more than 43. 000. Pratt responded with: “‘A net swing of more than 43,000 votes since Tuesday..’ 43,000, huh?. Where have I seen that number before…?. Probably nothing,” paired with a shrugging emoji.

He also shared a screenshot tied to the LA homeless population—an issue he has talked about heavily during his campaign. The screenshot states: “43,699 people experience homelessness on any given night in the City of Los Angeles.”

The newest results arrive after Donald Trump, who has shared his support for Spencer, stormed out of an interview where he again touted rigged elections—an escalation that has added fuel to a campaign already defined by a rolling vote count and shifting margins.
