NFL supercomputer predicts who will win next year’s Super Bowl… and there’s an overwhelming favorite

A supercomputer has predicted how the 2026 NFL season will play out and there is one overwhelming favorite to win the Super Bowl.

The Los Angeles Rams are predicted by many to raise the Lombardi Trophy at their own SoFi Stadium on February 14 next year.

Sean McVay’s team, led by reigning MVP Matthew Stafford, were beaten in the NFC title game by the eventual champions, the Seattle Seahawks, last season.

But after acquiring defensive stud Myles Garrett in a trade with the Cleveland Browns and moves for Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson from the Kansas City Chiefs, they look primed to go for glory once again.

Opta’s supercomputer has given the Rams a 19.9 per cent chance of winning the Super Bowl and a 29.9 per cent chance of making the NFL’s biggest game.

Their closest rivals in the NFC are expected to be the Philadelphia Eagles and the Seahawks but they have a 6.3 per cent and 5.3 per cent chance of winning the Super Bowl respectively.

Other teams backed to make the playoffs include the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Carolina Panthers, while the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are tipped to be on the fringes of contention.

While the Rams are heavily fancied to reach the Super Bowl from the NFC, there is plenty of uncertainty around who their opponents from the AFC will be.

Opta’s supercomputer has backed Mike Vrabel to shake off the Dianna Russini affair scandal and lead his New England Patriots back to the Super Bowl.

They have been given a 16.5 per cent chance of making it for the second time in two years, but have a 7.5 per cent chance of actually winning the big game.

The supercomputer believes the Houston Texans’ gnarly defense could power them to the Super Bowl and they are second favorites to get there with a 14.3 per cent chance.

Surprisingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars have been given a 12.6 per cent chance of reaching the Super Bowl in their second year under head coach Liam Coen.

Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are fancied to make the playoffs and it’s expected that the Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills will compete for three playoff spots in the AFC.

That means it’s bad news for the Kansas City Chiefs, who are being tipped to miss out on the playoffs for the second season in a row. That would be a devastating blow to Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, in what could be Taylor Swift’s husband’s final NFL season.
