New Zealand seek historic World Cup win over Egypt

Belgium couldn’t score against them, their only goal coming off the leg of Egypt defender Mohamed Hany midway through the second half. Despite all that, the 29th-ranked Pharoahs — who have won the Africa Cup of Nations a record seven times — have never won a game in four trips to the World Cup, including this one. But they are heavily favoured against the All Whites, who are the World Cup’s lowest-ranked team, at 85. “We’re always used to being the underdogs, but we know

it and hear how good we can be, and we performed against really top opponents,” said Old. “The last game really gave us a lot of confidence, and we’re not afraid to play any of these teams.” Likewise, they’re not afraid of the likes of Salah nor Marmoush. “You can’t deny the quality they have,” said Waine. “I don’t think people need to be made aware, but you obviously have a little look just to see what they’re about, and that’s really it. Then we

focus back on ourselves and what we can do to win the game.” New Zealand has unofficially moved its base camp from the University of San Diego to Vancouver, and will remain in the city until their final group stage match against Belgium on June 26 at B.C. Place.

  1. I read Egypt only scored because of a defender’s leg? so like… was that an accident or own goal?? either way New Zealand seems like they’re gonna dominate.

  2. Wait it says they’re moving base camp from San Diego to Vancouver which is crazy, why not just stay in San Diego if they’re already close to everything. Also “All Whites” sounds racist? like come on who thought that name was a good idea.

  3. Egypt hasn’t won in 4 World Cups?? that’s wild, but then they’re still “heavily favoured” over the All Whites like ok. Salah and Marmoush are probably gonna carry, and New Zealand always talks tough but then Belgium will mess them up.
