A new chapter of mayhem has arrived in theaters, and with it comes a fresh question for anyone who’s ever laughed at a minion’s chaos: which Despicable Me and Minions movie do audiences love the most?

The franchise—sparked in 2010—has since grown into a huge, familiar universe. Seven theatrical movies have played out on screens, collectively grossing over $5 billion at the global box office. And while Gru’s story began with a bold plan to steal the moon, it didn’t stop there. The films went on to show his journey expanding into marriage and fatherhood.

For many viewers, the origin story is still the spark. In the first Despicable Me film, Gru is introduced as the man behind what’s framed as the biggest heist in the history of the world, all in pursuit of the moon—surrounded, of course, by an army of tireless, little yellow minions.

Then the timeline shifted again when The Rise of Gru brought fans back in time to a young Gru and showed how he became the version audiences came to recognize. The franchise didn’t just grow through character arcs, either; it expanded outward.

Alongside the movies, the world has stretched into Minions spinoffs, parade balloons, video games, many short films, and a digital series. Even theme-park life has joined the mix: there’s now a Minion Land at Universal Studios Orlando, complete with its own Minion ride.

With the release of the third Minions movie. Minions & Monsters. a new ranking is in the spotlight—this time built around how audiences feel about each film. The franchise’s latest theatrical push is now sitting alongside all the familiar entries fans have followed. rewatching the big heists and the backstory favorites as audiences decide what stays at the top.

  1. So which one is the “best” like… are they asking me to vote or what? I can’t keep track of these minion titles lol.

  2. 7 movies and $5 billion?? That’s insane. I feel like they just keep making them because kids won’t stop asking. Also Minion Land at Universal is probably the real reason they’re rich, like obviously.

  3. I swear the moon stealing one is the first, but then they said “timeline shifted” so now I’m confused like are they counting Rise of Gru as a sequel or a prequel? Either way I don’t really care, minions talking weird is like the whole point.

  4. Minions & Monsters sounds like it’s gonna be scary? Like monsters??? But it says mayhem so maybe it’s just the same chaos again. I liked Despicable Me when it was newer, now it’s all theme park stuff and rewatching. Also $5B seems made up, because my cousin said she watched it on some random site, so how they counting that?
