Netflix hasn’t renewed Devil May Cry Season 3 yet

Devil May Cry returns with Season 2 as Earth and Hell fight it out, and audiences keep pushing the show toward another renewal. Netflix has not officially confirmed a third season, but production rumors are circulating—and if a green light comes soon, new epis
The battle between Earth and Hell is already underway on Netflix, and for Devil May Cry, the clock is ticking in a different way. Season 2 is moving, and viewers are showing up in a way that makes “maybe next” feel less like a wish and more like a countdown.
Netflix hasn’t officially renewed Devil May Cry for additional seasons at the time of writing. Still, the platform often takes time to evaluate viewership before deciding whether to keep going. That hesitation is exactly where the rumour mill has room to breathe. Multiple reports within the fan and industry orbit suggest Devil May Cry season 3 is a go. with production ongoing—and that would fit the creator’s stated preference for a multi-season arc.
The stakes are clear even without a formal announcement. In the story, Dante is caught in a war between humanity and the demon world, while in real life the show’s future appears to hinge on one question: will enough people keep watching fast enough for Netflix to say yes?
Last week, Devil May Cry pulled in 4.1 million views. It also climbed into the top 10 show list in 64 countries. Those numbers don’t guarantee a renewal—but they turn the debate from “if” into “how soon,” especially with an announcement from Netflix suggested to be possible soon.
If everything lines up, the next set of episodes would likely arrive in spring or summer 2027.
Cast listed for Devil May Cry includes Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante. Robbie Daymond as Vergil. Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary. Hoon Lee as White Rabbit. Kevin Conroy as VP Baines. and Chris Coppola as Enzo. The series’ voice cast alone carries weight with recognizable names. and for fans. seeing the lineup clearly sets expectations for what kind of season 3 would have to deliver.
Devil May Cry’s premise is built around Dante. a demon hunter-for-hire who becomes tangled in a growing war between humanity and the demon world. As portals between realms begin to open, Dante is hunted from all sides. The supernatural threats aren’t just something he fights; they’re also something he’s drawn to—because the series keeps pulling him back toward what’s happening to his family. including the fate of his twin brother. Vergil.
Season 1 begins with Dante trying to stop the White Rabbit from triggering a demonic invasion of Earth. At the same time, it teases the return of Vergil and the rise of the demon king Mundus. Then Season 2 shifts the emotional gravity of the rivalry. Dante and Vergil reunite. at least temporarily. but the split in their motivations becomes sharper: Dante keeps protecting humanity while Vergil becomes increasingly obsessed with power. The finale lands Dante injured and back on Earth, with the story explicitly far from over.
For a potential Devil May Cry season 3, that ending reads like a door opening rather than a conclusion—expanding the mythology even further and moving forward from Dante’s injuries, Vergil’s trajectory, and the larger forces pressing in from both realms.
What’s striking is how the show’s internal momentum mirrors the audience pressure in real life: the finale has the narrative still accelerating. and the viewership numbers suggest fans are still leaning in. Whether Netflix chooses to keep that energy going with a formal renewal will decide how quickly viewers get answers about what happens next.
If you’re looking for more series with a similar cinematic sweep and anime-adjacent momentum, the streaming list includes Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, Steel Ball Run JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai, Record of Ragnarok, and The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity.

So is season 3 just never happening then?
I don’t get Netflix sometimes. They literally have the top 10 in like a bunch of countries and still “haven’t confirmed” it. Like what more proof do they need, Dante screaming?
“4.1 million views” doesn’t sound like enough for Netflix to care, I guess? But also 64 countries top 10 is kinda huge. Maybe they’re waiting for the season 2 numbers to drop and then they’ll randomly announce it like a week before it’s done filming.
If they do season 3, it better not be delayed because of Hell vs Earth or whatever. Also I swear the cast list online has new people and then half of it is cut off, so maybe that’s why they’re stalling? Not saying I’m right, just feels messy. Spring or summer 2027 sounds way too far though, I’ll be shocked if I’m still caring by then.
