Victoria hosts National Indigenous Peoples Day open house

Victoria is invited to celebrate the heritage and living traditions of Indigenous cultures at the Royal BC Museum’s National Indigenous Peoples Day open house. Community members, Knowledge Keepers, and cultural experts will be joining the event on June 19 at Thunderbird Park. Those who participate will be able to meet Royal BC Museum members, listen to experts sharing their stories, perspectives, and insights into Indigenous histories, cultures, languages and living traditions. Visitors are invited to join and connect with each other through conversation and deepen
their understanding through respectful dialogue in a welcoming environment. All members of the community are welcome to the free event, where they can drop in anytime. The event will start at 11 a.m., with a traditional welcome and opening remarks from the Royal BC Museum, and an opening song. A self-guided connection through conversation will start at 11.30 a.m., with the event finishing with closing remarks at 1:45 p.m.
