Nashville awarded Super Bowl LXIV for 2030 kickoff
Nashville awarded – NFL owners voted Tuesday to put Nashville on the Super Bowl host list for Super Bowl LXIV, to be played in 2030—setting up a four-year test of whether the city’s new stadium and wider infrastructure can deliver the full Super Bowl experience.
Nashville didn’t just get a new stadium on Tuesday. It got Super Bowl LXIV.
NFL owners voted to make Nashville the host for Super Bowl LXIV, scheduled for 2030. The decision lands in a familiar pattern: for most new stadiums. a Super Bowl is tied to a public-money deal. a quid pro quo that rewards cities for building big-league venues. Even cold-weather markets can qualify if the stadium has a roof and if the city can handle the full-scale event—especially through hotel capacity and the wider infrastructure needed to absorb the influx.
For Nashville, though, the clock starts now. The real test won’t be whether the city can host the game—it will be whether the 2030 experience lands well enough to keep Nashville in the loose, rotating group of Super Bowl cities.
Weather is part of that equation, and the league’s own history makes it clear. An ice storm in Atlanta for its second Super Bowl. XXXIV. in early 2000. helped keep Georgia out of the loop until the region had built a second dome. Nineteen years passed before the Super Bowl returned to Atlanta for a third time. Atlanta is already set for another Super Bowl nine years after its most recent one.
Other cities carry their own reminders. Dallas still hasn’t hosted a Super Bowl again since the second year of Jerry World, after a weeklong ice debacle and the problem that followed from selling more tickets than there were seats available.
With the latest vote complete. the next four Super Bowls are now set for L.A. Atlanta. Las Vegas. and Nashville. Los Angeles and Las Vegas have become regular destinations. Nashville won’t just watch from the sidelines—four years from now. it will have a clear chance to earn a place in the unofficial rotation.
