The Rough & Tough Rally returns in Namibia from 14 to 17 May 2026, covering 1,000 km through Damaraland while raising funds for cancer support.

Staff Reporter THE annual Rough & Tough Rally will return to Namibia from 14 to 17 May 2026, bringing together vintage car enthusiasts from across the world for a rugged 1,000-kilometre journey through Damaraland while raising funds and awareness for cancer support initiatives in Namibia.. Founded by the Baard family of Goanikontes Oasis near Walvis Bay, the Rough & Tough Rally has grown from a small gathering into one of Namibia’s most recognised charity motoring

events.. The rally combines adventure, entertainment and philanthropy, with participants driving older and custom-built rally vehicles across challenging terrain over three days.. Drivers are also known for themed costumes, fun tasks and challenges along the route, adding to the event’s festive atmosphere.. Beyond the excitement of the rally, the event serves as a major fundraising platform for the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN).. Funds raised through the initiative support programmes such as the National Cancer

Outreach Programme and the Patient Financial Assistance Programme.. Over the years, contributions from the rally have helped CAN expand outreach clinics, assist financially vulnerable cancer patients and support the establishment of the first Palliative Care Namibia medical unit in Windhoek.. The rally traditionally starts at Goanikontes Oasis and travels through some of Namibia’s most scenic and rugged landscapes, attracting both local and international participants..
