Asante Akyem North MP Questioned at Amsterdam Airport Over U.S. Arrest Warrant

Ghana’s Majority Chief Whip says an Asante Akyem North MP was questioned at Schiphol under a U.S. arrest warrant, with legal support being arranged.
Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has disclosed that Asante Akyem North MP Kwame Ohene Frimpong was intercepted and questioned at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol based on an arrest warrant issued by United States authorities.. The incident occurred Sunday morning while the MP was on a private trip to London using a diplomatic passport.. Dafeamekpor explained that the warrant is part of an international alert system circulated through global security channels such as Interpol, allowing for enforcement
in foreign jurisdictions regardless of whether the individual’s home country has been notified.. A Ghanaian lawyer based in The Hague has been secured to represent and advise the MP as legal coordination began on Monday.. The legal team is currently awaiting full documentation to understand the specific basis for the U.S.. warrant, as official details have not yet been fully disclosed.. Dafeamekpor noted that relevant documents have been submitted for review and urged the public
to ignore unverified social media reports, stressing that the legal team is proceeding only with confirmed information.
