Millie Bobby Brown Says Waiting for Call Hurts

Millie Bobby Brown opened up about adoption, calling “waiting for the call” the hardest part of the process on Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast.
Millie Bobby Brown is used to living life on-camera, but when it comes to adoption, she says the hardest part isn’t the paperwork or the speeches—it’s the waiting.
On the Thursday, June 11 episode of Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, the “Stranger Things” actress, 22, reflected on her motherhood experience and admitted that “Every journey is different. Waiting for the call is the hardest part,” she said.
Brown also offered advice to others going through a similar path. “I just would always encourage you to understand that every journey is different. Don’t compare yourself to others. don’t compare yourself to statistics. don’t compare yourself to other families. but your baby is out there. and you’ll find each other.”.
Her comments come amid ongoing public attention around her new family. Brown previously shared that. with her husband Jake Bongiovi—who tied the knot with her in May 2024—she and Bongiovi adopted a baby girl. They announced the arrival of their daughter via adoption last year. writing in a joint Instagram statement in August 2025: “This summer. we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. ” adding. “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy. And then there were 3. Love, Millie and Jake Bongiovi.”.
During the same podcast appearance, Brown also addressed the backlash she’s received since becoming a first-time parent. “I was like. ‘This is vicious. you are vicious. ’ and I don’t have time for angry women that just need to bring you down. especially when it comes to motherhood. ” she said. “I’ve never experienced anything like this. It’s like, I can always deal with the, ‘Oh, my God, you showed your nipples?. What a bitch!’ I’m like. ‘Whatever.’ I don’t care about that. but when you’re like. ‘You didn’t put a hat on your baby?’ I’m like. ‘Try putting a hat on my baby. I dare you [to] put a beanie on her.’”.
She continued, “Stay in your own lane, put a hat on your baby and put a sock in your mouth. Sorry, the English is coming out of me, but it’s so true. Like, shut up.”
Brown has said before that she wanted to start a family young. In an episode of the “Smartless” podcast in March 2025. she said. “My mom actually had her first child at 21. and my dad was 19. ” and added that it’s been “my thing since before I met Jake.” She described having told her mother “like. baby dolls” that she wanted “to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”.
She also explained that Bongiovi understood the importance of timing for her. “I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer. but I also find it’s so important to start a family for me personally. ” she said at the time. “It’s a huge thing. Jake was like, we cannot do that until we get married. So that was his thing.”.

Waiting for a call sounds brutal, like adoption is already hard enough.
So she’s saying the paperwork isn’t the hard part? Must be nice. Like other people have to wait too, and they’re not famous. Adoption should be the same for everyone, not a “podcast journey” thing.
Idk why people are even mad at her for adopting?? Like she said waiting is the hardest part and everybody’s just focused on the drama. Also Kylie Kelce has a lot of opinions so I’m sure Millie got questions about everything.
I thought adoption was just like you pick a baby, right? Apparently not, but she’s on camera a lot so it’s like how does “peace and privacy” work when you announce it on Instagram. And “waiting for the call” sounds like a job interview. People hating her though… social media is vicious, not gonna lie.
