When Millie Bobby Brown stepped into the conversation in New York City on Wednesday, June 24, she made one thing clear about Tom Cruise: their friendship isn’t just polite—it’s full of adrenaline.
The 22-year-old Stranger Things actress described the Mission: Impossible star as “a dear friend,” saying he’s “a wonderful man” and that she feels lucky to call him that. Then she dropped the detail that turns a nice friendship story into a full-throttle one.
“Tom does the craziest stuff. I think he’s trying to get me to somehow fly a plane at some point,” Millie said during a chat with Happy Sad Confused host Josh Horowitz.
It’s not the first time she’s been in the cockpit of Cruise’s world. Millie said she’s already “flown his helicopter before,” but the experience clearly left its mark. She recalled thinking, “This is the last time I ever fly any of his equipment,” before describing the decision like it was final.
The helicopter story lands in the same orbit as how Millie talks about doing stunts. In 2024. during a visit to The Drew Barrymore Show. she compared herself to Cruise while promoting her film Damsel—explaining that once the harness went on. there wasn’t much time for nerves. “You’re just like. ‘Are we really gonna. like. am I really gonna do that stunt?’ And then that day they’re like. ‘Yep. put the harness on. ’ and I just. like. did the stunt as if it wasn’t. you know. Tom Cruise–level stuff. I felt like Tom Cruise,” she said at the time. She added, “In this film, I feel like the female version of Tom Cruise. I did all my own stunts from start to finish.”.
Cruise, meanwhile, is no stranger to training for flight. He famously learned to fly a helicopter for Mission: Impossible – Fallout and has continued flying recreationally.
