Mike Tyson says he once spotted his then-wife Robin Givens driving up in the BMW he bought her with a young Brad Pitt during their divorce—an allegation Givens has previously denied.
Mike Tyson didn’t just tell the story—he returned to the moment with the kind of specificity that only comes from a memory burned in.
Speaking during an appearance on the podcast “This Past Weekend. ” hosted by Theo Von. the former world heavyweight champion. now 59. was asked whether anyone had ever stolen his girlfriend. Tyson went straight to a far more personal situation: the time he says he caught his ex-wife Robin Givens with a young Brad Pitt.
Tyson said the incident unfolded while his marriage to Givens, which began in 1988, was breaking down and moving toward divorce. “That’s an interesting story. He didn’t steal her from me, but me and my wife were going through a divorce,” Tyson recalled.
In his account. Tyson claimed that during the period his marriage was spiraling. he and Givens were “sleeping together by night while fighting in the papers by day.” Then. he said. something changed. “But, one day, I went over to the house… she wasn’t home. Nobody,” Tyson continued, before describing how he saw her later. “Then, [I saw her] driving up the road with the BMW that I bought her.”.
Tyson said he spotted another person in the car. He believed it was someone he recognized from a TV show she’d appeared in—“Head of the Class,” where Givens played Darlene Merriman between 1986 and 1991—before he realized it wasn’t.
“I thought it was one of her friends from ‘Head of the Class’… But it wasn’t one of her friends. It was Brad Pitt,” Tyson said. Tyson added that Pitt “wasn’t Brad Pitt yet” and that he “didn’t know who the f*** he was,” adding that “he didn’t even have a car.”
Tyson said the story isn’t new. He previously described feeling furious after spotting Pitt. recalling that the future Hollywood star “was like a beach bum. a little nerdy.” In Tyson’s 2013 book. “Undisputed Truth. ” he wrote: “You had to see the look on his face. He looked like he was ready to receive his last rites.”.
The alleged incident has been contested by Givens. In the past, she confirmed that Tyson once saw her “pulling up in the driveway” with Pitt—who had made a guest appearance on “Head of the Class.” She explained that “We were coming from like a screening or something.”
But while Givens has addressed the moment as one that Tyson witnessed. she has repeatedly denied the more extreme version of the claim that Tyson made about catching her in bed with Pitt while they were still married. “[That] never, ever, ever happened,” Givens said years later on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”.
For Tyson, the story remains vivid. For Givens, it was never what Tyson said it was.
