A near-20,000-square-foot Lake Tahoe mansion that for decades served as both a home and a creative retreat is now on the market for $43 million.

Beach Boys co-founder Mike Love and his wife. Jacquelyne. are listing their nearly 20. 000-square-foot estate on the northeast side of Lake Tahoe—about 115 miles northeast of Sacramento. California. the Reno Gazette Journal. part of the USA TODAY Network. reported. Love has owned the home for more than four decades.

The property’s price is steep, but it comes with a backstory steeped in music and ritual. Love. a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. has written lyrics for enduring Beach Boys anthems including “Good Vibrations. ” “Surfin’ Safari. ” “Help Me Rhonda. ” “Kokomo” and “California Girls.” For him. the mansion has never been only a residence. It’s been a place to work, to create, and to step away.

Long before the listing, the house included what was described as a fully integrated recording studio. That space has since been turned into an area with views of the Tahoe landscape, though it remains suited to music production acoustics.

The interior design also reflects the spiritual identity Love is known for practicing through meditation. The home draws on Eastern philosophy, including a hand-carved Ganesha figure and a hand-painted celestial dome ceiling. Even the front door carries the story: Love commissioned southern Indian temple artisans for it. and it was blessed by a temple priest.

In the home’s layout, the details continue. At the base of the spiral staircase sits an indoor koi pond.

The listing describes a wide range of amenities built for private living and hosting. The mansion sits on 2.5 acres, according to the Washoe County Assessor’s office. To prevent future development, the Love family placed six additional acres surrounding the property into conservation.

Beyond the scenic lake setting, the house includes a professional chef’s kitchen, private cinema, wine cellar and tasting room, gym, boardroom, cedar sauna and steam room, plus several gathering spaces.

The home is configured for both comfort and scale: it has 10 bedrooms, including a primary suite that opens directly to a private lake-view deck. There are 12 full bathrooms and three half baths.

For buyers tracking luxury inventory in the region, the listing comes with extra context. Homes.com ranks the mansion as the fourth-highest priced residential property among those actively listed at Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe has seen its share of record-breaking prices. The record for the most expensive house sale in the area is $125 million, set earlier this year for a home in Incline Village. That sale involved a mystery buyer with ties to a Silicon Valley venture capital firm.

Love’s connection to the Baywatch of American pop culture runs deeper than real estate. He co-founded The Beach Boys in 1961 alongside his cousins, Wilson brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis, as well as childhood friend Al Jardine.

Brian Wilson was largely credited as the innovative musical force behind the band. composing the group’s most ambitious record “Pet Sounds” during a period when the Beatles were redefining pop music through their experimentations on “Rubber Soul.” As their public profile rose. Brian Wilson retreated further into the studio and avoided the limelight that came with touring and interviews.

In contrast, Love became the de facto face of the group as lead singer, helping propel the band into a sunny stardom that formed around its signature seaside sound and aesthetic—bringing California’s surf culture to global audiences.

Now, that blend of music-making space, spiritual design elements, and sprawling grounds is set to meet the market. With a $43 million asking price. the listing doesn’t just offer a house on Lake Tahoe—it offers a lifestyle built over decades. and preserved in architecture that reflects how Love says he lives: tuned for both sound and stillness.
