Mika Brzezinski flinches as Trump crowd claim lands

Trump’s 45,000 – On “Morning Joe” Monday, Mika Brzezinski laughed off President Donald Trump’s Truth Social claim that “at least 45,000” people attended his Wednesday opening-night speech at the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., citing other descriptions of a far

When the conversation turned to President Donald Trump’s crowd claim for the Great American State Fair, Mika Brzezinski couldn’t quite keep a straight face.

On Monday’s “Morning Joe. ” the MSNBC host addressed Trump’s Truth Social statement that “at least 45. 000” people attended his speech Wednesday on the opening night of the event at the National Mall in Washington. D.C. The Great American State Fair honors America’s 250th anniversary and runs through July 10.

Brzezinski said she doubted the number and accused Trump of “gaslighting about crowd size.” She pointed viewers to other accounts that described a very different scene. One account from NBC News put the crowd at “more than 1,000” people. The Washington Post. she noted. did not name a specific figure but said attendees “thinly covered an area about the length of the National Museum of American History. smaller than some summer outdoor movie screenings.”.

Fox News. which did not dispute the former president’s claim. leaned the other way—airing a commentator who argued “pictures don’t tell the full story” and that visitors were likely to encounter “a wash of people.” Brzezinski’s reaction was immediate. “Oh my God,” she said after seeing the Fox News clip, briefly covering her face as she laughed. “Ouch!. OK.”.

Her skepticism was echoed by at least one conservative voice. Jonah Goldberg wrote Sunday on X, sharing video of the “wash of people” remark and commenting that, “If only they had employees who know how to operate cameras that could capture these images he describes.”

The crowd debate is unfolding against a rougher backdrop for the fair itself. Although the event initially had a lineup that included high-profile musical acts—among them country artists Martina McBride and Bret Michaels—most of those performers backed out beforehand. Rapper Vanilla Ice, who remained on the bill, ended up canceling his scheduled performance last Friday due to inclement weather.

Trump has continued to frame the fair as a triumph. even as the public record has conflicted on what attendees actually looked like on opening night. On Truth Social early Monday. he wrote: “Do you think people appreciate what a fantastic job we did in building and operating the Great American State Fair at the National Mall. packed with happy people. and everybody loving it?” He followed with a direct challenge: “Ask yourself this simple question. ‘DO YOU THINK THAT OBUMA OR SLEEPY JOE BIDEN COULD HAVE DONE IT?’ THE ANSWER IS NO!”.

  1. I didn’t even finish it, but Mika laughing at the crowd number says everything. Trump be gaslighting all day lol. Also why is the fair so empty if it’s “packed”??

  2. Wait so is this about the cameras or the weather? Like the weather made Vanilla Ice cancel so maybe the crowd was smaller, right? But then the article is like 1000 vs 45k and Fox is like “wash of people.” Okay but whose pics are those??

  3. Mika flinches and that proves it’s fake, right? Like if she looks uncomfortable it’s not like that could be scripted or anything. Trump does this big numbers thing, and then everyone just fights over who filmed what. Honestly it’s probably somewhere in the middle and both sides are annoying.
