Michelle Collins calls out ‘The View’ for not inviting her back

play

Michelle Collins has “The View” in her crosshairs.

Collins, 45, called out the ABC daytime talk show Aug. 3, saying that she was not asked back for the show’s 30th season. The comedian served as co-host for one season of the program in 2015.

“I just heard that Rosie O’Donnell went on my friend Kylie Ridley’s podcast and said that she heard all the co-hosts from ‘The View’ were being asked back for the 30th season. Now, that was news to me, maybe cuz I’m traveling so much my invite somehow got lost.”

Collins’ remarks come a day after O’Donnell said in a recent appearance on “The Tangle with Kyle Ridley” podcast that she and all of the other hosts had been asked to return “for the 30th anniversary next year.”

Collins, on the other hand, can’t say the same.

“But I have not heard from anyone from the show. And in fact, I didn’t hear from them during Season 25 when they had, I think, most, if not all, of the co-hosts back,” Collins said.

She added: “I find that really interesting because you know I always behaved very professionally about that show. I was in fact a real co-host. I was number 15 back in 2015, despite what they’ll have you believe, I was named co-host and yeah, I just find it really funny you know.”

Collins thought she’d address the elephant in the room because she’s gotten “a lot of questions asking me if I’m coming back for Season 30.”

Rosie O’Donnell: ‘No formal’ ask has been made

A representative for O’Donnell told Entertainment Weekly in a statement that while “there was a mention of inviting some of the hosts back to ‘The View’ as a guest during season 30, there has not been a formal ask from the show at this time.”

Brian Teta, executive producer of “The View,” seemingly addressed the chatter surrounding which, if any, former co-hosts would be returning for Season 30, in an Aug. 4 X post: “We love seeing all the excitement about The View’s 30th, lots of plans are in the works, but no invites have gone out.”

USA TODAY reached out to “The View” for comment.

Michelle Collins ‘would love’ to hear from ‘The View’

Collins doesn’t know whether she’ll hear from “The View,” but she’s open to coming back.

“I would love to hear from them. Would certainly love to. And we’ll leave it at that,” she said. “Otherwise, you know, we can have a little bit of fun too, either way.”

According to People, Collins’ contract was not renewed in 2016, in part because her time on the show was filled with controversy, with the outlet citing a seeming loss in advertisers over her behavior on the show.

Collins addressed her departure in her remarks, saying that “when she got unceremoniously let go from that show,” she never talked [expletive].

“I never went public with anything because I thought that was professional but now, I’m starting to think that maybe that was dumb,” Collins said. “Maybe I should’ve cuz all of those other people are being asked back. So, you know, I just wanted to address it cuz I’ve gotten a lot of DMs from people… about it. “
