Michele Weaver hid pregnancy during Sheriff Country filming

Michele Weaver shared how she managed to keep her pregnancy out of view while filming Sheriff Country, posting a June 10 Instagram clip that shows her covering her belly until 38 weeks. Her revelation lands as the show prepares to return for season 2 in fall 2
Michele Weaver didn’t just keep her pregnancy under wraps on Sheriff Country—she did it while still working, filming until 38 weeks pregnant.
On Wednesday, June 10, Weaver posted an Instagram video from the set with the caption: “You all seem to love seeing clips of me hiding my belly last season … so here you go!! 😂.” She added, “This is what happens when you film until 38 weeks pregnant!!!”
Her post came just weeks after she’d addressed why viewers hadn’t been seeing Cassidy in recent episodes. In May, Weaver wrote on social media, “People keep asking if I was written off. Nope .. just had to leave to have a baby.” She followed it with a promise to fans: “I’m back next week!. Don’t miss tonight’s episode!. If you think you know what’s going to happen next… trust me.. you don’t.”.
On-screen, Cassidy’s absence wasn’t a mystery of scheduling—it was a story beat with high stakes. During an April episode, Cassidy finally solved her missing sister’s case, only for it to spiral into danger. She was kidnapped by a serial killer who had been murdering women for years.
Mickey (Morena Baccarin) saved Cassidy just in time. When she was released, the deputy asked for some time off. The season’s final scene left Cassidy and her mother driving away in their car while healing from their loss.
Weaver’s pregnancy revelation lands as the show’s future remains firmly in motion. Sheriff Country was renewed for season 2, with Weaver expected to reprise her role as Cassidy. The series stars Baccarin, Christopher Gorham, Matt Lauria and W. Earl Brown, and Amanda Arcuri and Ian Quinlan were promoted to series regulars for the second season.
But even as the cast lineup shifts toward a bigger second season, the series is heading into an unusually turbulent stretch behind the scenes. Sheriff Country’s predecessor, Fire Country, drew backlash after budget cuts led to Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcila’s exits.
Showrunner Tia Napolitano addressed that kind of turnover in an October 2025 conversation, saying, “It’s a fire show. Anyone can go at any time. But in terms of losing people, we’re also adding some really fun guest cast. It’s a revolving door of people from Sharon’s past and new faces that are exciting to bring conflict and secrets and twists and turns.”.
Napolitano also teased how the show would balance escalation with the weight of loss. She said they would have to “spice it up” while still walking a “fine line” of paying tribute to what happened on screen. “What we’ve done is really thread the needle of honoring — especially Vince — because Gabriella is gone. but she’s gone to a happy and successful life. She’s still out there. But we really walk this line of honoring Vince while also finding hope rather quickly,” Napolitano explained. She added that the theme of the season would be “rising from the ashes and recovery.”.
“How do you recover from something like this? And we’re really going to see everybody rise to the occasion, in celebration of Vince, of his life and in honoring the sacrifice that he made,” she continued.
Not long after that, the tone behind the camera shifted again. News broke that Napolitano was leaving the show as well. In March, it was announced that Eric Guggenheim will take over for Napolitano. Deadline reported that Guggenheim is coming aboard after previously serving as showrunner of Magnum P.I. and coshowrunner of Hawaii Five-0.
For now, Sheriff Country is set to return in fall 2026—while Weaver is already reminding viewers that the show’s biggest surprises can happen even off-camera, during weeks like 38—when work doesn’t stop and your belly certainly doesn’t “accidentally” disappear.
