Meghan McCain Slams Jimmy Kimmel Over Spencer Pratt Jokes

Meghan McCain didn’t just disagree with Jimmy Kimmel’s latest late-night bit—she went for the jugular.

The political commentator fired back after Kimmel’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” monologue turned a Los Angeles mayoral loss involving Spencer Pratt into comedy. McCain reshared a clip from the segment, then posted a message online that offered little charity for the host. Her post. dated June 10. 2026. left no room for misunderstanding: “Jimmy Kimmel is a mean. heartless b*****d and no amount of on air crying will convince me or anyone else otherwise. The day he is off air will be a better day for the country.”.

It was the sharpest escalation yet in a story that began as election jokes and quickly turned into a public clash between celebrity voices.

Kimmel’s Tuesday-night monologue leaned into Pratt’s campaign and his earlier comments about potentially leaving Los Angeles if he didn’t win. Pratt had said publicly he would move away from the city if his political bid fell short. and he later clarified to several media outlets that he was trying to make a broader point about what he sees as the city’s future challenges.

Onstage, Kimmel framed it differently—turning the pledge into a punchline. “He clearly promised that if Karen Bass or Nithya Raman were elected mayor, he’s going to move out of L.A. He said he was done with L.A., and Spencer, if you’re watching, we are so, so sorry to see you go.”

Then came the visual gag. Kimmel claimed there was a customized U-Haul truck prepared for Pratt’s exit. saying. “We do know we’re going to miss the hell out of you. You’re a man of your word and you’ve got to go. You said you were going to go and I know things might be tight right now. especially out-of-state donation money is running out. Moving is expensive. So to help you out we rented you a U-Haul.”.

As the audience watched, images of the decorated moving truck appeared on screen. The vehicle was shown with balloons, streamers, and a giant image of Pratt’s face next to a sign that read “Just Defeated.”

Kimmel closed the joke with one final farewell: “Our staff spent the whole day decorating for you. And everybody will notice you and wave goodbye as you leave. I hope that you and [wife] Heidi [Montag] are happy wherever it is you go.”

McCain’s response landed right on that kind of humor—because to her, it didn’t read as harmless election banter at all. By calling Kimmel a “mean, heartless b*****d,” she made it clear she believed the joke crossed a line, adding that no amount of on-air crying would change her mind.

Even as the feud has room to grow, the election itself kept moving. The mayoral race continues with incumbent Karen Bass securing a spot in the general election. while councilwoman Nithya Raman claimed the second position after additional ballots were counted. Pratt’s campaign, despite drawing attention, fell short of advancing.

For now, the public question hanging over all of this is whether Kimmel, Pratt, and McCain keep escalating—or whether the U-Haul punchline ends up being the last word in a very loud corner of celebrity politics. But McCain, at least, made her feelings unmistakable.
