The incident happened during the game between LDU Portoviejo and El Nacional in LigaPro Serie B, the South American country’s second tier. As the cart carried an injured Portoviejo player back toward the locker room, midfielder Edison Caicedo was speaking to a coach on the sideline.
Caicedo appeared to be mid-conversation when the medical cart came driving past. He finished his words with the coach, then turned the other way—at the worst possible moment. The 36-year-old spun with his back to the oncoming vehicle. and flew straight into it. seemingly catching his right knee before tumbling to the floor.

How do you hit a cart and not have someone yelling “STOP”?? Also those things are basically quiet carts right, no horn? Seems like bad planning by the stadium staff.
I mean he wasn’t even looking, so to me it’s like… his fault? Like he spun his back to it and flopped when it came. I get collisions happen but cmon, he literally turned right into it.
This is the kind of thing that makes me mad for the injured player AND the driver like why would the cart be moving that close. People are acting like it’s a comedy moment but knee injuries aren’t funny. He went back in anyway which is wild, maybe he was just stunned and didn’t realize.
