McLaurin backs Blough’s plan to feature him

Terry McLaurin says new Commanders offensive coordinator David Blough has stayed true to his promise to target him heavily, and McLaurin has already noticed the plan taking shape during the team’s offseason work.
Terry McLaurin’s offseason routine has been a little more focused than usual. Not because the work has changed, but because the intent behind it has.
McLaurin said he likes what he’s been hearing from Commanders offensive coordinator David Blough since Blough was promoted into the role earlier this year. Blough told McLaurin his goal is to get him 10 targets a week in the passing game. On Tuesday. McLaurin said he’s heard that same message from the coach and has watched the Commanders begin turning it into action since the offseason program started.
“I love that. You know, he told me that way back in February,” McLaurin said, via JP Finlay of NBC. “He texted me that him and I have a really good relationship. He’s been a man of his word. My job is to prove that each and every day. when we’re having workouts to be the leader. to be someone who you can count on to be on the field and make plays. That’s all I’ve been asking for. That’s all I want. So. to win games and have a big part of that. so I was definitely smiling when I saw that come across the phone. From OTAs and stuff, I can definitely tell that’s gonna be part of it.”.
McLaurin also believes his featured role could help create room for others on the offense. He pointed to a dynamic where one receiver taking on a top priority can pull defensive attention and open opportunities for teammates.
There has been chatter that the Commanders could add wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to that group. but McLaurin’s message was clear: any alignment up front still has his place at the center. The Commanders. entering this season. are looking to bounce back—and McLaurin expects Blough’s plan to keep him right in the top role as the team builds toward that goal.

10 targets a week?? Man if that’s real he’s about to go off.
I feel like this always happens… they say they’re gonna “feature” one guy then suddenly the whole offense forgets everyone else. Also Feb text?? idk just sounds like coach talk.
So Blough is basically saying throw it to McLaurin a bunch and everyone else gets crumbs? That’s what I’m getting anyway. And if they add Aiyuk too then it’s gonna be like 30 targets between them? I don’t even know.
Good for him but I’m still waiting for them to actually bounce back, like wins not just OTAs. OTAs don’t mean nothing if the line falls apart. Also texting in February sounds nice but defenses in week 1 aren’t gonna care about your relationship.
