Conor McGregor sat in an MMA cage as cameras rolled, smiling at a kind of story most fighters never get asked to hold in their hands. This time, it wasn’t a sparring session or a contract offer. It was a glove connected to the 2011 raid that killed Osama bin Laden.
McGregor’s manager explained why he isn’t fighting Michael Chandler or returning at UFC Freedom 250. while McGregor himself promoted a new energy drink. MAC Energy. During the promotion. former Navy SEAL Rob O’Neill—who has identified himself as the killer of bin Laden—spoke to McGregor face-to-face and offered him a glove he said was used on the mission.
O’Neill told McGregor, “I wore that glove,” and McGregor replied, “To take down Osama Bin Laden?” O’Neill said, “Yeah, and I haven’t washed it so there might be DNA on it.”
The exchange was captured in a video published by TMZ showing about a minute-long conversation inside the cage. In that conversation. O’Neill indicated he shot bin Laden to death by firing a gun held by his gloved right hand. and he said he gave the left-handed glove to McGregor—explaining it was meant as a token of their connection. O’Neill said. “I figured I put a man down with my right hand. you put a man down with your left hand. ” then added. “and this is a token of our relationship. our friendship. our brotherhood.”.
O’Neill has been lauded, but he has also faced criticism from people who say he has tried to capitalize on the military operation. In the cage, McGregor voiced only gratitude after receiving the glove, saying, “Awesome,” and “I appreciate that.”
The moment landed in a familiar place—sports celebrity—while reaching into a specific, high-stakes chapter of modern history. O’Neill’s insistence that the glove hadn’t been washed. paired with McGregor’s public acceptance. turns a promotional scene into something far more charged than a typical endorsement.

Why is he even holding that glove like… respect I guess but also bro cmon
TMZ had a video so I’m guessing it’s legit. If there’s DNA, they should test it and stop all the drama. Also the energy drink thing feels super forced
Replying to ??? but wait he said he didn’t wash it?? That’s like the grossest flex ever. And ppl really think it proves anything like DNA could be from anything, not just 2011.
I don’t get why McGregor even agreed to this, isn’t that like promoting terrorism memorabilia or whatever. And if he’s fighting Chandler then why not just focus on the fight instead of being inside some marketing cage holding a glove. Either O’Neill’s lying for clout (probably) or the whole bin Laden story is being turned into ads, which is messed up. I bet the “DNA claim” is just another way to sell the MAC Energy drink.
