Turquoise arches are not something you usually see on a fast-food logo—or on a basketball sneaker.
McDonald’s and Nike are launching limited-edition Nike Book 2 shoes designed for Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker. featuring a turquoise theme instead of the brand’s familiar golden look. McDonald’s says the white Nike Book 2 McDonald’s sneakers include turquoise arches and turquoise swooshes. and they’ll be available starting June 2.
Before they hit shelves, the campaign has a giveaway window built in. MyMcDonald’s Rewards members will have a chance to win a pair of limited Friends and Family editions of the Nike Book 2 sneakers—also all-turquoise with white arches—starting Friday, May 22. McDonald’s is giving away 50 pairs.
The design isn’t just aesthetic. The turquoise color is intended to pay tribute to a specific McDonald’s restaurant in Sedona, Arizona. The location opened in 1993 and. the company says. is the only McDonald’s in the world with turquoise arches instead of golden ones. It’s also one of only four McDonald’s globally with arches in colors other than the traditional yellow. a detail that ties the sneaker back to a real place Booker says shaped him.
Booker. a five-time NBA All-Star. played in the 2014 McDonald’s All-American Game and has also been tied to Nike’s Book line—Nike previously dropped the Nike Book 1 in 2024. In a statement. he said. “McDonald’s has been part of my story long before the league – from being a McDonald’s All-American alum to giving back through Ronald McDonald House. my roots with the brand run deep.”.
He added that his sneakers are meant to honor Arizona locations tied to him: “My sneakers have always been about honoring the places in Arizona that have shaped me over the years and the Nike Book 2 McDonald’s take inspiration from a place I return to every offseason.”
McDonald’s has leaned into basketball-related partnerships before, including sponsorship of the McDonald’s All-American Games, described as annual postseason basketball showcases of the top high school seniors. The chain has also occasionally teamed up with sneaker makers on special shoes.
To enter the sweepstakes for the all-turquoise Friends and Family edition. McDonald’s spells out a short checklist for the May 22 start date. From May 22 through May 28. you can enter the sweepstakes to win a pair by downloading the McDonald’s app. opting into MyMcDonald’s Rewards. and watching for a sweepstakes bonus in the Rewards & Deals section starting May 22 and running through May 28.
Activation requires a purchase during the entry period: McDonald’s says participants must buy one of six specialty drinks—Dirty Dr Pepper, Orange Dream, Sprite Berry Blast, Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher, Strawberry Watermelon Refresher or Mango Pineapple Refresher.
For shoppers who want to buy rather than enter, McDonald’s says the Nike Book 2 McDonald’s shoes with turquoise swooshes will become available to purchase on June 2.
This isn’t McDonald’s first foray into basketball footwear tie-ins. In 2023, the fast-food chain teamed with Crocs on limited-edition shoes, following past McDonald’s-themed basketball sneakers.
