A McDonald’s menu built around football is heading to counters across the U.S. starting next month, and the company is betting that collectors—and fans—will line up for the keepsakes as much as the food.
Beginning June 4, McDonald’s will introduce the “FIFA World Cup 26 Meal,” served with one of nine collectible cups. Each cup features soccer stars, including current USMNT player Christian Pulisic, LAFC forward Son Heung-min, and David Beckham, along with other figures—plus Grimace.
The food choices for the meal give customers a couple of paths: they can order a Big Mac. or they can choose 10 pieces of Chicken McNuggets with a limited edition. gold packaged Big Mac Sauce. Breakfast customers get their own options. with a Sausage McMuffin with Egg or a Sausage Biscuit with Egg. both served with hash browns.
For Pulisic, it’s personal in a way that goes beyond marketing. “Growing up. it was our ritual after soccer tournaments to go to our McDonald’s near Hershey. PA for Chicken McNuggets and a McFlurry. ” Pulisic said in a news release provided to the media. “To now be featured on a McDonald’s collectible cup all these years later is a full-circle moment.”.
The World Cup rollout doesn’t stop at collectible cups. McDonald’s is also launching the FIFA World Cup 26 Happy Meal on June 9. The kids’ meal will come with one of 23 Squishmallows plushies, featuring versions of the World Cup mascots. Those Happy Meals will arrive in special packaging with a scannable code that unlocks an exclusive digital game on the Happy Meal website.
Morgan Flatley. Global Chief Marketing Officer and Head of New Business Ventures at McDonald’s. framed the move as a longer engagement with fans. “As football icons take the field to unite fans across continents. McDonald’s will be there from the first whistle to the final minute with limited-time meals and keepsakes so fans of all ages can be part of the excitement all tournament long and beyond. ” Flatley said in the same news release.

McDonald’s and Squishmallows have also built momentum for months. In May. the chain teased the collaboration with a post on its X account that read. “Hard to pick a fave in this Squishmallows huddle puddle. FIFA World Cup Happy Meal out June 9.” McDonald’s said the toys would be “kitted in unique soccer-inspired jerseys and McDonald’s graphics.”.
The World Cup-themed meals arrive after McDonald’s brought back its Happy Meals for a limited time featuring the popular squishy stuffed toys. Those earlier meals included one of a dozen different toys. including a new character named Halley. described as a previously unseen Squishmallow of the salamander-shaped axolotl type.
With June 4 and June 9 now locked in, the company’s World Cup push is set to turn everyday ordering into a chase for collectibles—cups for older fans, and plushies plus a code-driven digital game for kids.

Happy Meal with a scannable code that unlocks something?? Meanwhile my local McDonald’s can’t even get the right sauce half the time. Maybe they’ll mess up the cups too and we’ll all just stand there holding Grimace like what is happening. Also I read somewhere Pulisic is married to like, the game or whatever, so I’m confused why this is a big deal for him.
