The final day of NRL’s Magic Round in Brisbane was jolted by a violent clash in the stands at Suncorp Stadium, with two supporters seen throwing repeated punches during the Broncos vs New Zealand Warriors match on Sunday afternoon.

A video capturing the exchange—posted to a social media account run by Clarkey’s Rugby League Column—has since gone viral, drawing 1.6 million views. The footage also shows fans from other teams, including Dane Clarke, moving in to try to stop the fight.

Clarke accompanied the clip with the caption: “Silly boys having a biffo at Magic Round,” adding, “Had to step in & break that up.” The brawling pair were eventually pulled apart by onlookers as the trouble flared during the game.

The incident landed on a weekend that reportedly brought almost 150,000 fans to Brisbane, with the vast majority described as well-behaved.. Even so. the images have continued to spread. accumulating 30. 000 likes and 800 comments. while fans directed criticism at those involved for spoiling what many see as the NRL’s most popular calendar event.

One fan wrote: “The whole beauty of magic round is that there’s 50k drunk footy fans and everyone loving life noone is fighting. lowkey disappointing to see.” Another said. “Should have just had them kicked out. ” while a third remarked. “Nothing screams family event like fighting. alcohol and gambling. ” and another added. “Silly men can’t just go out and have fun.”

Queensland Police said they are aware of the incident and are in the process of confirming details.

The brawl is not the first time Magic Round has been marred by fighting. In 2022, NRL CEO Andrew Abdo threatened to ban supporters for life after a previous incident involved multiple punches, a coward punch, and one spectator tumbling backwards down three rows of seats.

The sequence has been starkly similar: a public clash erupts during Magic Round. footage spreads rapidly. and then attention shifts to potential consequences after officials say they are confirming details—just as Abdo’s earlier warning followed a previous fight involving multiple punches and injuries down the seating rows.
