The court found that Trump’s executive order from last year targeting birthright citizenship is illegal under the 14th Amendment. That provision says. “All persons born or naturalized in the United States. and subject to the jurisdiction thereof. are citizens of the United States.” The decision sparked widespread outrage on the right. where many have rallied around Trump’s effort to restrict the constitutional rule that grants automatic citizenship to anyone born in the country.
On social media. Sean Davis. the CEO and co-founder of The Federalist. argued there were “several ways forward.” He listed two proposals that quickly drew attention: adding more justices to the Supreme Court and mandating “sterilization of all foreign visitors prior to entry.” Davis also floated a breakup-style solution. writing. “A nation which can’t even restrict who gets to be a citizen isn’t a nation.”.
Jack Posobiec, another conservative media figure, took a different route—aiming at eligibility rules around pregnancy and medical testing. In a social media post, he said, “The court never said we can’t mandate spot pregnancy tests for foreigners.”
Several others on the right zeroed in on the justices themselves after members of the court’s majority ruled against Trump. Rep. Nancy Mace. R-South Carolina. wrote on social media. “Impeach rogue. activist judges. ” and added. “We’re looking at you Amy Coney Barrett.” Conservative podcaster Megyn Kelly also singled out Barrett. saying on her show. “I’m sick of Barrett. I’m sick of this bull***t by Barrett, I gotta be honest.”.
The anger is tied to how hard Trump has leaned into immigration and the limits of citizenship. After the ruling, he described birthright citizenship as an “anchor” wrapped around the country’s neck. Chief Justice John Roberts. writing for the majority. framed the decision in rights language. writing. “Citizenship. then and now. was the right to have rights − to freely participate in our political community.” Roberts added. “The Framers of the Fourteenth Amendment extended that promise to ‘every free-born person in this land.’ We keep that promise today.”.
The split reactions from Trump allies show the contours of the next phase. Vice President JD Vance appeared on Fox News and called the ruling “disappointing” and “a major. major mistake. ” while also portraying it as containing a “silver lining.” He said the decision demonstrated that there is significant support among the justices for ending birthright citizenship. describing the issue as “hanging by a thread.”.
Vance pointed to the internal disagreement on the court: four of the justices said Trump’s executive order didn’t violate the 14th Amendment. while one said it violated a 1952 immigration law. “We have to keep fighting because we actually have an opportunity to reverse this decision. just as we’ve reversed so many bad decisions throughout the generations. ” Vance said.
Steve Bannon, a prominent MAGA media figure, opened his podcast on June 30 by declaring it was a “day that will live in infamy,” but he insisted the battle was far from over. “You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to get up and dust ourselves off and we’re going to go to war,” Bannon said.

I didn’t even know they could just do that birthright thing like that. Sounds like the Supreme Court did what was right but now people are mad for no reason. Also what is a “pregnancy test for foreigners” like… come on.
Is this the part where Trump tried to stop people from being citizens if they’re not supposed to be here? Cause I swear I saw something that said “When the Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship” but then the article is talking about sterilization?? Like how is that even legal. Everybody’s going off the rails.
Mace saying impeach and then they’re mad at Amy Coney Barrett… I’m just confused why they can’t accept the ruling. And the Federalist guy was saying adding more justices?? That’s just more politics dressed up as law. The sterilization part though… I’m not even reading all of it but that sounds like something from a dystopian movie. People need to chill.
