MacBook Air gets $200 off for Memorial Day

Apple’s latest MacBook Air models are seeing Memorial Day discounts: the 13-inch with an M5 chip, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD is $200 off at Amazon for $899.99, while the 15-inch is also $200 off—$1,099.99 at Amazon in select colors and $1,149 at Best Buy.

Heavier than it looks. the new MacBook Air suddenly feels within reach for the kind of person who needs a laptop that won’t feel dated in a year—or two. This Memorial Day. Apple’s latest MacBook Air is marked down by $200 in both sizes. bringing the deals into the range where people actually pull the trigger.

The 13-inch MacBook Air is on sale at Amazon for $899.99, down $200. The configuration on offer includes an M5 chip. 16GB of RAM. and a 512GB SSD. and it’s described as a new low price. The 15-inch model is also $200 off: Amazon lists it for $1,099.99 in select colors, while Best Buy prices it at $1,149.

For most shoppers who aren’t chasing high-end gaming or heavy workloads like 3D modeling, the pitch is straightforward. The M5 MacBook Air is positioned as the laptop that performs well enough to feel reliable “several years from now. ” handling everyday tasks with better day-to-day responsiveness than the new MacBook Neo—whether that means juggling dozens of tabs or doing light video editing.

There’s also a specific reason this year’s MacBook Air is framed as better value than before. The 2026 iteration is said to include double the base storage. which is meant to give buyers more room for apps and files. Storage performance is another point of emphasis. with read and write speeds described as rivaling the M5 MacBook Pro. making file transfers and multitasking feel faster.

Outside the benchmarks. the essentials remain the same kind of sell: a sharp. vibrant display designed to make things like spreadsheets and Netflix look good. and a slim. light build that’s easy to carry in a backpack. Battery life is rated at around 13 hours on a single charge. There’s also a 12-megapixel Center Stage webcam, described as offering best-in-class performance.

The message isn’t that the newest MacBook Air is reinventing the laptop category. The source framing is clear: it’s not a huge leap from earlier models. But for buyers who’ve watched the MacBook Air steadily improve over the years. the argument is that sometimes “subtle refinements” are exactly what matter.

  1. I saw this and was like finally, then I realized it’s 16GB and 512… that’s still expensive. Also 13 hours battery? I don’t trust apple numbers anymore lol.

  2. Wait the 2026 one has double the base storage?? I’m confused because the ad says 512GB SSD is included like already. Maybe they mean it’ll get double later when Apple updates it or something? Either way I just want a laptop that doesn’t slow down in 6 months.

  3. People keep saying “doesn’t feel dated in a year” but that’s just marketing. If it’s slower than my iPad by the second year then what’s the point. Also Center Stage webcam?? who even uses that unless you’re doing video calls all day at work. $1,099.99 is still crazy when you can get Windows for half that.
