Lynx beat – Natasha Howard and Olivia Miles powered the Minnesota Lynx to an 85-77 win over the Dallas Wings on Sunday, while coach Cheryl Reeve tied the WNBA regular-season coaching wins record for career victories at 378.
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Dallas Wings could never quite catch up once Minnesota’s offense got rolling. By the time the first quarter ended. the Lynx were already ahead 28-16. and they kept control from there. stretching the lead to 45-29 at halftime after holding Dallas to 11-for-37 shooting and eight turnovers before the break.
Natasha Howard finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Olivia Miles added 21 points and eight assists. Cheryl Reeve’s milestone night landed in the middle of it all: she tied the WNBA record for career coaching wins as the Lynx improved to 15-4. including a 9-1 road record and a perfect 3-0 mark against Dallas this season.
Reeve, who already owns the WNBA’s record for playoff wins, tied Mike Thibault for the most regular-season wins in league history at 378.
Howard went 9 for 17 from the field and added three steals for Minnesota. Miles was 8 for 8 from the free-throw line. and her recent scoring stretch was hard to ignore—she has 64 points over the last three games. Kayla McBride scored 17 points and knocked down four 3-pointers, while Courtney Williams added 12 points.
Dallas had its own sparks, but they came too late and not often enough. Paige Bueckers led the Wings with 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting. Azzi Fudd scored 21 points and made 12 of her first 14 shots in the third quarter, and Jessica Shepard grabbed 16 rebounds.
Minnesota kept pressing after halftime and finished the game with the 85-77 win.
Up next, the Wings play at the Connecticut Sun on Thursday. The Lynx travel to face the New York Liberty on Friday.
