Linda Perhacs, the psychedelic folk artist known for her rediscovered album “Parallelograms,” has been missing for nearly eight months as her loved ones seek out answers.
Perhacs, 82, went missing after straying from her residential care facility, with the singer’s former manager, Laurel Stearns, telling Fox News Digital and The New York Times on July 28 that Perhacs was discharged from the Northridge, California, facility under her legal guardian’s supervision eight months ago but has not been directly heard from since. Perhacs was receiving care for dementia, Stearns told the Times.
Stearns added that friends and former collaborators have made “repeated attempts to communicate with her guardian” but that they have also “gone unanswered.”
The former manager also emphasized they are not suggesting any wrongdoing has occurred, but are simply “seeking confirmation that Linda is safe, well, and receiving appropriate care, while expressing concern over the prolonged absence of communication with a beloved public figure.”
USA TODAY has reached out to Perhacs’ former manager for comment.
The Santa Monica, California, native’s debut 1970 album, “Parallelograms,” was overlooked before being rediscovered in the late 1990s as part of the New Weird America music scene. The album, produced by “Planet of the Apes” film composer and Oscar winner Leonard Rosenman, was reissued multiple times to much more fanfare.
Forty-four years later, Perhacs released her second album, “The Soul of All Natural Things,” followed by 2017’s “I’m a Harmony.”
An Adult Protective Services case and police report have been filed regarding Perhacs’ disappearance, according to Fox News Digital. USA TODAY has reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department for confirmation.
