Lil Nas X Returns With Rehab Mental Health Update

After months away from social media following his August 2025 Los Angeles arrest, Lil Nas X has posted a mental health update saying he spent the past few months in rehab, accepted his bipolar disorder diagnosis, and is creating new music.

Lil Nas X is back online—and the message comes with a rare mix of relief and urgency.

In a Wednesday post that began with the simple greeting. “welllll HELLLO!”. the rapper returned to social media with a video about his mental health journey after a long stretch of absence. He said he’s been focused on healing and personal growth. explaining that he spent the last few months in rehab.

His return follows a period when Lil Nas X was largely out of view from early 2025. During that time, he also made headlines after an August 2025 arrest in Los Angeles. The incident was tied to an alleged walk through the streets wearing only underwear and boots before he eventually became fully nude.

In his new video. Lil Nas X described how he’s been working to get out of his own head while spending time between Atlanta and Los Angeles. He said he’s been prioritizing time with friends and family. and he opened up about coming to terms with his bipolar disorder diagnosis after years of struggling.

He shared: “When I got my bipolar disorder diagnosis. I feel like I had known for the past three years but I didn’t want to admit to it because I didn’t want to take medication… or have people think different of me. Like I’m already Black and gay… Damn God gave me like… Black, gay, bipolar. I’m living life on extreme hard mode. But on a serious note, I’m doing much better. I’m feeling better and I’m creating freely. It’s less fear in my heart. I’m smelling the roses.”.

The update also touched on his music career. While Lil Nas X confirmed that new music is on the way. he said he isn’t ready to share details yet. Still. he made it clear he’s eager to bring fans into what comes next. telling them: “We’ve been through so much together. Thank you guys for holding it down. I love you and all I want to do is continue to try to make you proud and make myself proud. So let’s go, Dreamboy. Let’s go.”.

The response from supporters poured in quickly across social media, with commenters pointing to how visible and personal his update felt. Instagram user @syck.sydd wrote, “He looks wonderful. Im so happy hes feeling better.”

User @queenie_nirvana added, “It’s so many adults walking around with mental disorders but don’t know it.Because we just pass things off like oh this person got an attitude or mean. Or hype, but no something be really wrong with people. Blessings to him tho 🔥”

  1. I’m genuinely glad he’s doing better, I guess. But the whole underwear/boots thing from that arrest is still stuck in my head, so idk how to feel.

  2. So he was in rehab like a punishment or like medically? Because I saw clips where he was basically nude and then it said bipolar diagnosis like those are connected? Either way, bipolar meds don’t fix the public stunts lol.

  3. Welllll HELLLO is definitely not how I thought a mental health update would start. Hope it’s legit and not just content timing. Also he mentions Atlanta and LA like it’s a travel vlog while he’s “getting out of his own head,” like okay but where’s the accountability for the August incident, you know?
