Lightning delay delays start of game

College Football Week 2 picks against the spread and predictions
College Football Unfiltered is breaking down the biggest Week 2 matchups and picks against the spread.
Mother Nature once again will delay an early-season college football game with her presence.
The latest victim is No. 6 Oregon and Oklahoma State.
The Week 2 non-conference matchup between the Ducks and Cowboys will start in a weather delay due to lightning strikes in the area of the stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Both teams were slated for a noon ET (11 a.m. CT local time) kickoff.
“Thunderstorms with lightning are in the area and we are suspending play until further notice. If you are located in open air seating, proceed calmly to the area located under the stadium seating at this time,” Oklahoma State posted on the jumbotron inside the stadium.
Oregon avoided a Week 1 upset to Boise State behind a dominating second half from Dante Moore and Co., while Oklahoma State took a Week 1 loss on the road to Tulsa.
Here’s the latest:
All times Eastern
- 12:27 p.m.: As shown by The Oklahoman’s Ben Hutchens, the sky in Stillwater is starting to get dark. The hourly forecast from The Weather Channel is still calling for thunderstorms over the next two hours, with a rain probability of 30 to 40%.

- 11:44 a.m.: Oklahoma State radio voice Dave Hunziker said the Cowboys are “hopeful” for an 11:38 a.m. local-time kickoff. But Hunziker, however, also said the latest information could delay kickoff past noon local time as well.
