Liberty Hotel opens Boston’s first espresso martini lounge

The Alibi Bar & Lounge inside the Liberty Hotel at 215 Charles St. will debut what organizers call Boston’s first espresso martini lounge this Saturday, pairing a seasonal patio design with a seven-drink menu named for local jails.
On a building with a long memory, Boston is about to sip something new.
This Saturday. the Alibi Bar & Lounge at the Liberty Hotel. 215 Charles St. is set to open what organizers say is the city’s first espresso martini lounge. The seasonal space is designed to feel like a destination: florals and greenery. string lights. and a custom LED tree that changes colors throughout the evening.
Organizers are betting the look will match the moment. “It’s going to be a really cool Instagrammable moment,” said Emily Burke of Served Creative, the boutique marketing agency behind the concept, dubbed “Sentenced to Sip Boston.”
Burke is working with the Lyons Group, a Boston-based hospitality management and consulting firm that manages the Alibi Bar & Lounge. She previously helped create the Retro Room, a ’70s-inspired listening lounge in the Back Bay that offers nostalgic cocktails and food.
The espresso martini idea didn’t start in Boston. Burke said the concept came to her a few years ago in New York City. after she attended a pop-up that was themed around espresso martinis. “I loved the idea so much,” she said. “I had never seen anything like it anywhere, and the espresso martinis, they were just so aesthetically pleasing.”.
She said she’s been thinking for years about how to recreate that kind of experience in Boston. “We all know espresso martinis are having a huge moment in liquor right now,” Burke said. After looking at the patio at Alibi. she and the Lyons Group decided it was the right setting to try it out. “We’ve been trying to breathe new life into there,” Burke said. “It’s obviously a very iconic space.”.
The Liberty Hotel itself carries its own theme. The building was once the Charles Street Jail, and Burke said the menu reflects that history. The seven drinks on the menu will be named after different jails and will include flavors such as cookie dough, tiramisu, and orange crème brûlée.
“We really went all out trying to create a lot of different flavors that not only taste amazing but look amazing,” Burke said.
Early reaction, Burke said, is already pointing toward the kind of social buzz organizers want. “The feedback has been immense. The DMs are flooded,” she said. “It’s been a very positive response.”
She’s also framing the timing as a kind of opening window. “It’s like the perfect storm,” Burke said. “The weather is finally getting nice. People are excited to be drinking again outside, so we’re expecting it to be very successful.”
For Boston’s espresso martini fans, the question now is simple: after years of craving something that looks as good as it tastes, will the city’s first espresso martini lounge deliver on the hype—starting this Saturday at Alibi?

Boston’s first espresso martini lounge? Finally, something important lol.
Is it like… named after actual jails?? That seems kinda dark for a drink menu. Also the whole LED tree thing sounds like a hotel trying too hard to be a TikTok spot.
Wait so the drinks are named for local jails and it’s called “Sentenced to Sip”?? I thought it was gonna be like a theme night with legal stuff. Either way, string lights and florals at a hotel bar is the most Boston thing ever, I guess.
Liberty Hotel already has a vibe, and now they’re doing espresso martinis like it’s some historical reenactment?? I saw somewhere it opens this Saturday but also “about to sip something new” like it’s a whole scandal. Seven-drink menu named after jails… so are they charging for the “time served” or what? Gonna check it out though, I’m weak to anything with caffeine and fancy.
