By the time fighters step toward the Octagon, the question may already be settled in a courtroom.

A federal lawsuit filed Saturday is trying to prevent “UFC Freedom 250” from happening at the White House South Lawn on June 14. The event is being marketed as part of America’s 250th birthday, with ceremonial weigh-ins for fighters scheduled at the Lincoln Memorial before the fight card.

Two Virginia residents say the plan is less about celebrating the nation’s milestone and more about handing a major stage to President Trump’s closest allies. including UFC boss Dana White. In their filing. they describe the effort as “deeply corrupt. ” arguing it turns some of the country’s most iconic landmarks into a platform for people linked to the President.

The lawsuit also zeroes in on money and influence. It alleges the UFC is offering VIP tickets costing more than $1M. while sponsors seek branding opportunities connected to the White House backdrop. The plaintiffs say Paramount—run by friends of the President. Larry and David Ellison—stands to profit as another company tied to the event through its Paramount+ stream.

The filing further points to the President’s personal financial exposure. highlighting reports that Trump bought up to $50. 000 worth of stock in TKO earlier this year. The plaintiffs argue he could benefit from the event’s success. They also claim the card is effectively a celebration of Trump’s 80th birthday, which falls on June 14.

Then there’s “The Claw.” The lawsuit targets the massive steel structure taller than the White House currently towering over the South Lawn. arguing that the transformation of the grounds was never authorized by Congress. The plaintiffs are asking a judge to block the event. saying the government improperly approved both the fight card and the construction surrounding it.

For months, Trump and the UFC have been publicly hyping the spectacle, promising a one-of-a-kind show. With the event just one week away, whether the cameras roll at the White House could hinge on a federal judge’s decision.

  1. I don’t even get why the White House is involved in UFC stuff. If it’s political favoritism then just cancel it. Pretty obvious.

  2. Wait, is this about the Octagon being on the White House lawn or is it about Dana White being there? Because the article kept saying “The Claw” and I’m like… what even is that, a weapon?

  3. Filing a lawsuit a week before is messy. Also I saw something about Trump buying TKO stock, so of course people think he profits, but I feel like that could’ve been twisted either way. And “America’s 250th birthday” weigh-ins at the Lincoln Memorial sounds kinda cool though? Unless the “Claw” wasn’t authorized by Congress which… ok but Congress is slow. I dunno, I’m just tired of billionaires turning landmarks into billboards.
